Winter 2014 FCS Soap Box

I absolutely love opening my quarterly FCS Soap Box!  If you’re not familiar, FCS stands for Fortune Cookie Soap, which is a husband and wife run handmade soap and body products company.  The FCS Soap Box is a quarterly subscription service that includes sample sizes of upcoming seasonal releases and it is Fun, Fun, Fun!  If you love trying new and unique bath and body products then this box is for you!

The Winter 2014 FCS Soap Box is a play on the holiday classic movie, Christmas Vacation.  This hilarious movie always has me in fits even though I’ve now watched it dozens of times.  I love how FCS took some of the jokes to make creative names for their upcoming holiday product line.  Please be advised that if you’re not familiar with the movie, the product names won’t make much sense to you, but that doesn’t make the products themselves any less festive.

What’s in the Winter 2014 Soap Box?

✻ “Moose Mug” Cuticle Butter – I am so excited to see favorite cuticle butter formula in this delectable holiday eggnog scent.  Good enough to eat (don’t worry, I won’t)! 😉

✻ “Mele Kelekimaka” OCD Hand Sanitizer – I love the tropical vibe for this awesome hand sanitizer to help me dream of warm sunny beaches during chilly winter days.  The FCS formula happens to be my personal preference across all of the brands I’ve tried.

✻ “‘Tis the Season to be Mary” Fortune Cookie Soap – This interesting combination of sweet almond and tobacco makes for a warm and cozy scent.  I love keeping fortune cookie soaps next to my sink for washing my hands but they’re also great to use in the shower.

✻ “Sparky” Hydrate Me – I haven’t had much luck with the hydrate me products in the past and I finally figured out it’s because I was using them wrong.  They’re meant to be used at the end of a shower or bath and rubbed directly onto the skin under running water for moisturization.  This one smells like a holiday themed brunch of pumpkin waffles with brown sugar, pecans, and whipped cream.  Another good enough to eat scent!

✻ “SQUIRREL!” Whipped Cream – There was a possibility of four different whipped creams for this box.  I got “Squirrel!”  I always think of the movie Up when I hear “squirrel!” but then again, Mr. Squirrel does play a big part in Christmas Vacation as well.  This lotion has a bright fruity smell of apples, strawberries, and plums, combined with citrus notes of orange and lime for extra zest.  The whipped cream formula is another one of the FCS standouts in my opinion.

✻ “I Pledge Allegiance, Amen!” Shower Steamer – This is the one FCS products I consistently don’t have luck with, but maybe I’m just using it wrong.  I believe you’re meant to drop it on your shower floor for an aromatherapy effect while showering.  This one smells delightfully like a winter forest with fresh notes of spruce, mint, and herbs.

✻ “Fried Pussycat” Whipped Soap – I’ve never heard of whipped soap before, so I’m wondering if this is a new product for FCS.  Whatever it is, it smells lovely!  The scent is subtle with notes of plum, caramel, bourbon vanilla, and jasmine.  I’m thinking of giving it a whirl in my shower in place of shower gel.

✻ “Christmas Bonus” Deep Conditioner – Is this another new product for FCS?  Maybe!  This deep conditioner is made with their third annual mystery fragrance.  If you guess right you have a chance to win a $50 FCS gift certificate!

  1. My BFF and I watch Christmas Vacation every year and quote it all year long. I would love to get her a couple of these items for Christmas, hopefully FCS sells them individually. The SQUIRREL! especially as it is a favorite inside joke between us.

  2. So fun! Thanks for yet another giveaway! You are so generous.
Ps. How CUTE is Winnie with her puppy dreams?! Oh my goodness too adorable.

  3. Awe Winnie dreaming is so adorable! I am so happy to know that although you went through a health scare with her, she is well and nothing is serious. I can’t even imagine how difficult those 2 weeks must’be been for you waiting on the results.
My kitty and I are sending you and Winnie lots of positive thoughts 🙂

    1. Thanks for your support. It was tough but made me appreciate my angel even more (and I already do quite a bit!). Thanks for the love 🙂

  4. Everything in the box looks great, I have never tried anything like this. Hope your holidays r filled with many wonderful blessings.

  5. Watching your YT channels lately, I just love your classic style and your so endearing! Lotions and potions are my weakness so YES to this box 😀

  6. Hi Jen. This has nothing to do with the post above. But I just saw on Facebook that Soulcycle is coming to Chicago. We have it in New York/Connecticut and I think that’s something you might really enjoy. It’s boutique spinning class. Maybe it’s even an idea for a future video.

    1. I’ve heard a lot about that! I’m not a big fan of cycling (it’s hurts my knees for some reason) but I would love to give it a try sometime. TFS 🙂

  7. Hi Jen,

My husband introduced me to Christmas Vacation when we first got together 13 years ago, and I have been a huge fan since… My favorite scene is definitely the squirrel scene, so much so, in fact, that this year for Halloween my 15 month old daughter and I were Clark (me) and the squirrel (her in a carrier on my back)! It’s too bad I can’t post a pic haha, but it was silly and fun, and she was the cutest squirrel I have ever seen 🙂 Given the theme of this fun FCS box i thought i’d share 🙂
