As many of you know, it was my birthday a couple of days ago. I decided to share some of the items I got for my birthday this year after recieving so many requests. This includes the items I purchased on my annual birthday shopping trip as well as gifts from my DH (Darling Husband).
Birthday Shopping Haul:
Don & I had plans for an early celebratory dinner downtown at Topolobampo, a Rick Bayless fine dining Mexican cuisine restaurant. I decided to take a half day and drove down early for a bit of shopping in the afternoon, which has become an annual birthday tradition of mine. Since it was pretty chilly, I stuck with my two favorite indoor shopping malls on Michigan Avenue: Water Tower Place and 900 North. I picked up a few of my new favorite Boyfriend Half Zip sweatshirts from Victoria’s Secret PINK line. There is an entire store dedicated just to PINK at Water Tower Place and they always have the best selection! I love these pullovers, especially for travel. I was happy to find a couple with less writing and bling on them (unlike the one pictured above. Unfortunately, they don’t have the exact ones I purchased in store online at the moment.) While I was waiting in line to checkout I snagged a travel size body mist in Warm & Cozy, which is described as a blend of toasted vanilla and peony. I haven’t purchased a new fragrance in months and thought this would be a fun and light winter scent. I also picked up some beauty goodies at Sephora with a birthday gift card from my DH, but am saving those to share in an upcoming beauty haul. At 900 North I popped into Kate Spade and became immediately smitten with the Cobbie Hill Little Curtis crossbody bag in Grace Blue. This color is so unique and stunning! The style of the bag is the perfect combination for me right now with a removable crossbody strap as well as a smaller handle. It’s the perfect size, has great pockets, and is such a soft leather. Plus, I saved $50 on the bag with an in-store promotion they were having that day. I can’t wait to pull this beauty out come spring!
Birthday Gifts:
I decided to also share what my husband gave me for my birthday. Every year he wakes me up with cake, flowers, balloons, and presents in bed. I am one lucky duck, I know! This year he gave me one really big present and I wasn’t expecting anything else, but he had some lovely things he picked out for me to open. Don knows he can never fail by shopping at LUSH for any special occasion. He gave me the Happy Bathday gift box, which includes three bath bombs and three bubble bars. Between this and the gift box he gave me at Christmas I am stocked well through the rest of winter! He also gave me a Lemony Flutter cuticle butter from LUSH, because he knows that I use this on my feet daily. The next gift was a lovely candle from WoodWick Escape in French Patisserie, which smells like caramelized sugar and will be delightful to burn in the family room while we snuggle and watch TV in the evenings. Since Don knows I’ve been really into knitting lately, he said he wanted to give me some fun yarn. He picked out three skeins of the Red Heart Boutique Midnight in #1933 Aura, which is an ombre acrylic blend in purple, green, and blue with silver thread woven throughout. These are some of my most favorite colors! That man really knows me! Speaking of which, one of the other gifts was a pair of Swarovski Baby Tortoises. Don traditionally gives me miniature Swarovski crystal figurines on holidays and he was super excited to see my reaction to the turtles. My favorite animals (not including dogs) are owls, bees, whales, and turtles, so to say I was excited to receive these cuties is an understatement! I’m keeping them on my bedside table right on top of a Bath & Body Works candle, which has a mirror-like lid. They are so sweet! Lastly, Don gave me two gift cards, including one for Sephora (which I already mentioned) and a one for Disney…
…which leads me to my BIG birthday present this year: a long weekend trip to Disneyland! I am beyond excited for this! We had no plans for a Disney vacation this year since I’m not running in any races and that has been the reason for our last four Disney vacations. I was planning a short trip to LA next week to visit the YouTube Space (super excited about this as well!) and thought I might extend my trip since it seemed silly to spend the money to fly all that way for just a couple of days. Disneyland is a couple hours drive from LA and the price was right so now we are going! I will definitely be vlogging during our travels for MHWL, as usual, so you guys can come along on our fun adventure.
