It’s been a busy week here at Pretty Neat Living HQ as I’m posting more than ever before. In between filming, taking photographs, and editing, I’m enjoying the beautiful fall weather and time spent celebrating with loved ones. I’d like to share some tidbits from my life last week as well as an accompanying photo recap with selections from my Instagram with you.
I cannot get enough of the beauty of this season. Even though we’ve had some cloudy days here and there, somehow the sun always seems to be shining when I take my dog, Winnie, out for our morning and evening walks. The leaves are in full change mode now. It is amazing to watch the neighborhood transform with the season. I know I go on and on about fall every week, but I really am enjoying it that much. I’ve always loved being outside and experiencing the different aspects of each season, but I think being pregnant is making me even more appreciative of the beauty of nature. I can’t wait for the first snow! But of course, there’s a lot more fall to enjoy first.

The inside of my home is transitioning as well, albeit it slower this year. I usually have all of my little Halloween tchotchkes and decor up around the beginning of the month, but I’ve been so busy working on content I haven’t made time to do that quite yet. Instead, I’ve been bringing out a few things at a time.
I did swap out our bed linens last week for the fall season. I’ve had this beautiful duvet from Pottery Barn and quilt from Restoration Hardware for over a decade, but kept them tucked away since we moved into our house because I didn’t think they went well with our blue bedroom walls. Now they’re the perfect match for our new cream bedroom. It’s fun how old things can become like new again!
I also started dressing Winnie in her fall bow collection over the past week. Check out that cute pumpkin chevron number from Beauty By Paris! Little things like this make it feel like fall in our home.
Speaking of fall changes, Shake Shack opened up at our local mall recently. Uh oh! I’m not usually a fan of fast food, but I really like their burgers and cheese fries. Don and I indulged last week and it was so tasty! They offer a specialty milkshake each week and last week it just happened to be Salted Buttery Caramel. That picture of me almost eating the cups sums up my feelings about it pretty accurately. Fortunately we don’t go to the mall that often, so hopefully this will just be a once in awhile treat. We’ll see if we can resist! 😉
As I mentioned before, I’ve enjoyed posting a lot lately. I just have so much I want to share about! My poor computer can’t keep up, sadly, and I had a frustrating start to the weekend trying to patch it up enough to hold out a little longer. Luckily, we had fun plans to distract me from my technical difficulties, including a wonderful outing with Don’s folks on Saturday in celebration of their anniversary to see the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre production of The Tempest. What an amazing show! I love how they incorporated magic into it. A must see if you’re in the area! Afterwards we headed to Mastro’s, a posh steakhouse with amazing food. On Sunday, Don and I went stroller shopping and narrowed down our top three picks to one. That was actually a really fun outing! When we got home I was finally able to work on my computer again and finish up my belated weekend posts. A frustrating start turned into a wonderful weekend!
I decided to try something a bit different this year and am snap-vlogging every day for the month of October over on my Snapchat. It’s a way for me to vlog in a super casual way daily for a change of pace. You can follow me there at prettyneatlivng if you’d like to see live posts. I’m also compiling that footage into a weekly vlog in case you’re not on Snapchat. Here’s my second weekly compilation:
I hope you enjoyed this peek at my week!
I’d love to know what made your week special if you care to share.
