Week In Review | May 25 – May 31, 2015

Change is in the air!  There are exciting things happening not only in my home, but also on my website.  I am excited to share more and reveal everything this month with you!  Here are some tidbits from my life last week as well as an accompanying photo recap with selections from my Instagram feed with you.

I’ve been contemplating changing some of the paint colors and other odds and ends in our home for the past year and decided this spring was the right time for these projects.  We had our master bedroom and my home office (pictured above) repainted, a tile backsplash added in our kitchen, and new lights put into our basement stairway.  I am incredibly happy with the finished results!  I’ll share a closer look in a dedicated post soon for those who are interested.

week in review family time may 2015

I also started thinking about outside changes for summer.  I bought hanging ferns for our front porch and am hoping to plant flowers in our beds and pots in the upcoming week.  The weather, however, hasn’t been cooperating lately and has been unseasonably cold.  Hopefully it will warm up again soon!

On Tuesday night, Don and I were fortunate to spend some time with our nephew Jacob and his girlfriend who were in town staying with my parents for a few days.  Jacob is in the navy and between bases at the moment.  We don’t get to see him very often, so it’s always a special treat when we spend time with him.  My Mom and Dad teamed up to make an amazing grilled beer can chicken for dinner.  Yum!

week in review ohio trip ipsoCreative

As for my upcoming online changes, work is well underway on the new website.  Don, Winnie, and I flew out to Ohio last week for photo and video shoots for the site.  We also paid a visit to ipsoCreative, the company I’ve hired to design and build my website.  They’ve worked with me since February through every detail.  We’re hoping to launch by the end of the month.  I can’t wait for you guys to see it!

I vlogged during our trip if you’re interested in seeing more:

week in review friends food may 2015

We returned home Friday night in time to enjoy a relaxing and fun weekend at home.  Our friends came over on Saturday and we spent the day eating, chatting, and catching up.  It’s difficult for the six of us to get together often because of everyone’s busy and conflicting schedules, so we try to make the most of it when we can.  This basically translates to an all out food fest.  We’re all foodies!  There’s nothing quite like sharing good food with good friends.

week in review sunday fun day may 2015

The weather wasn’t very nice this weekend with temperatures dropping into the forties mixed with rain and wind.  Winnie doesn’t mind at all, though, and we still enjoyed our daily walks together.  Sunday was another fun day which began with relaxing at home and ended with an seeing amazing performance of Anything Goes at the Marriott Theatre and dinner at our favorite local Italian restaurant, Tuscany, with my parents.

All in all it was a full and well rounded week capped off by a wonderful weekend spent with loved ones.  I’d love to hear how your week was if you care to share.  I hope the sun is shining wherever you are!
Happy June!

  1. The house is looking amazing! Isn’t it lovely what a few little tweaks can do? The lights on the stairs sound like a great idea!

I’m getting ready to re-tile our whole ground floor, which will not be fun but at least we get to have a mini holiday as a result lol

  2. Hiya Jen, Lots of luck with the new website I’m looking forward to seeing it. thanks for sharing the video. I always love seeing the sites and scenery of different places. Good thing your back was better.

  3. Spring is the time for change indeed 🙂 Your craft room looks way more spacious and light, although I really liked that blue, it was a change for better. I can’t wait to see your new website. Will it be too different in terms of content and features? Or is it just a graphic makeover? From what I saw on the vlog, photos are looking great so far. I really miss your daily vlogs, so it’s a treat every time you post a new one 🙂 Have a good week you guys!

    1. My kinds of content will remain the same…it’s basically just going to be renamed and have a different aesthetic.

  4. What a fun week! Glad you got to spend sometime with your nephew….it is always treasured time when I see mine! So anxious to see your updates in your home! The back splash looks amazing!

  5. Looks great I love the color and winnie’s adorable as well can’t wait to see the new site and enjoy the rest of your week.

  6. Your office/craft room looks great! We just had hardwood flooring put in all of the downstairs. I also just remodeled my home office with shiplap and new furniture! Love making changes to our home!

  7. Hi Jen! I hope that you had a great weekend! I’m so happy that your back is feeling much better. I, unfortunately, was feeling sick on both Thursday and Friday, due to my allergies with pollen, flowers outside, and such. Anyhow, I was feeling better over the weekend and I worked on de-cluttering my shoes and my clothing accessories. I’ll be receiving my end-of-year course reports from my first-ever year at college and I’m feeling both nervous and excited at the same time. I also spent time video chatting with my friends that are off overseas, at the moment and it was awesome to catch up with them. They also found out about my blog, and are so happy and excited about my newest hobby and can’t wait to see how it unfolds… I saw your video and have a couple of questions for you about your new blog: 1. What will happen to your current blog (www.prettyneatliving.com)? 2. Will the content on your blog be in any way similar to what you have currently? 3. Will the content be the same or will things be changing a little bit? Your kitchen backslash looks so pretty, by the way. The design and texture looks strikingly similar to the one my mum’s parents have in their own kitchen. Would you be interested in seeing a picture of it on Instagram? I’ll remember to take one of it the next time I visit 😉 On another note, here is my latest blog post for you about the Konmari clothing de-clutter project for my dresser: http://klsmgypsytraveller.blogspot.ca/2015/06/clothing-de-clutter-and-organization.html
Take care and have a great week

    1. OrganizedJen.com will automatically reroute to the new site once it launches and all of my past content will be loaded up there. I plan on posting the same kind of content with the new site. It’s just really a change of scenery more than anything else.

Great work on your clothing purge! Looks awesome 😀

  8. Jen, I just wanted to congratulate you on your new site being built. How exciting!! You deserve it!! Glad your back is feeling better too. Thanks for all that you do. Can’t wait to see the new reveal. All my best, Robyn

  9. Thanks for sharing! It was fun to see a behind the scenes peek at ipsoCreative. It seems like they have a really cool and creative workspace! Looking forward to seeing how your new site and branding turn out 🙂 By the way, so exciting that the new LifePlanner launches next week! Any thoughts on whether you’re staying with vertical or switching to the new horizontal layout? I’ve really been enjoying the vertical layout.

  10. Hey Jen,

I thought you’d really enjoy this stationary line from Singapore called “The Paper Bunny” (http://thepaperbunny.com) , you might wanna check it out 🙂
Also, are you and Don travelling for leisure any time soon? I love how open you are to change, it truly inspires me.

    xoxo

    1. What a fun stationary site! TFS 🙂

We have three family reunion-ish trips lined this summer and then we’ll be in Utah later on. We’re planning our 10 year anniversary trip for September 🙂
