Week in Review | March 30 – April 5, 2015

Hello, friends!  New week, new week in review.  I wanted to share some tidbits from my life last week as well as an accompanying photo recap with selections from my Instagram feed with you.  Here’s the buzz:

I spent the first half of the week in Ohio visiting the company that is helping me with my rebranding journey.  I traveled through Ohio many times as a child when we used to drive from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Oak Park, Illinois to visit my grandparents, but I’ve never actually stayed there.  Although I didn’t have much time to explore, Ohio seems like a beautiful place!  I can imagine how lovely it is especially in the spring and fall with all of the trees.  My trip was a lot of fun for me and it was great to spend time with the super creative team I’ve hired in their amazing office space.  I’ll share more about them and my whole rebranding journey when the new site launches this summer.

The rest of my week felt like a mad dash to catch up with my work and get my house in order in time to prep for Easter.  Last week I talked about how noticing and appreciating the little things and small moments makes time slow down for me, especially when I’m feeling like I’m scrambling.  Some of my favorite little things/small moments from the past week include:

❤︎ The paint-like clouds on a bright, sunny morning walk with Winnie.

❤︎ Noticing hearts everywhere on Friday (like the one left from clay mask residue in my sink).

❤︎ Homemade potato pancakes cooling on a paper bag at my in-laws’ house.

This past weekend was extra special with the holiday, which we are so fortunate to spend with both sides of the family.  I look forward to the Easter celebration every year, because it means sharing amazing homemade food with my loved ones.  The gorgeous, balmy weather made the day even sweeter!  A hot bath and some naughty treats (peeps are my weakness) was the perfect way to cap off an awesome week.

I vlogged on Easter Sunday if you’d like to see more (actually, a whole lot more with this super long vlog) about how I spent the holiday with my family:

I’d love to hear about how you spent Easter, if you celebrate, or one of your favorite little things/small moments from the past week.  I hope the sun is shining wherever you are!

  1. I went home for easter and got to spend time with my grandparents . I think my favorite part of easter is just the time I spent with the family. And watching the girls run around the yard

  2. Hi Jen, this was the first year my dad was in Aged care, it was very strange going to see him there and not at his old home. He looked great though, the best I have seen him in years. It was lovely to spend time with him just chatting instead of cleaning his house, going through his bill, fixing his computer all the other jobs I have had with him for the last 5 years. Yes Easter is time for family – go need to appreciate the snippets of life we ave withe the ones we love.Cheers Maggie PS your thanks for the vids, posts and I am looking forward to a new year of adventure too 😀

  3. Happy Blessed Easter! We spent Sunday with both sides of our family at my brother’s family home enjoying all the traditional Easter food also. My daughters are all grown and have families of their own so we all enjoy being all together on these occasions and I loved seeing my two grandchildren all dreseed up for Easter. The day was very bittersweet for me though. I thought I would share because of your love for Winnie. This past Wednesday my husband and i had to say goodbye to our very much loved American
Eskimo, Jakey. Jakey was diagnosed with a heart murmur about 8 months ago. Our vet did everything he could do but his heart became enlarged and he began to struggle this past month. We were blessed to have Jakey in our lives for 11 years and I could not imagine my life without him but we all realized he was struggling so much and I had to let him go.

  4. Yayyyy! What a giant treat to get to see an Easter vlog from you! Thank you so much for sharing your Easter with us and vlogging and such a great long one too – those are the best!!!

I’m glad that you had such a great Easter and it looks like an exciting work trip to Ohio earlier in the week too! Can’t wait to see what kind of rebranding you and your team comes up with!

You should totally buy the Sundance dress in blue! It’s a gorgeous dress and I bet it would look so beautiful in blue! I have several clothing items that are the same but in different colors! I feel like when you have a piece of clothing that you really love, you should totally have it in multiple colors, especially while you can still buy it (before they discontinue/change styles).

  5. I loved this vlog! What a great Easter Monday treat! I spent the holiday with my husband and my family as well, including my brand new nephew for his first Easter! I loved seeing all the Easter baskets you made up, I did the same thing with my family. I think it makes the holiday so much fun. Thank you so much for sharing your day!

  6. …..with tears in my eyes posted my comment too early. Just wanted to say thank you for sharing this vlog of Winnie enjoying his Easter basket on Sunday. It brought a smile to my face watching Winnie playing with his toys and searching for cookies. I had a basket ready for Jakey but was unable to share it with him. I justed wanted to share and thank you again for vlogging on occassions. Sharing is caring! Give Winnie a hug from me and enjoy the gorgeous spring sunshine!

  7. Cute video, Jen! Glad that your Easter was a good one and spending it with family is even better. Your Dad has a great voice and I enjoyed the “Sound of Music” singing, as it is my favorite movie! Thanks for letting us share your Easter day!

  8. Loved loved loved loved this vlog. I have watched every single one of you vlogs (holy cats I sound like a stalker..) and I have adored them all but this one, by far, was my favorite. I was trying to figure out what was different and I think that it was about your whole day, not just a check in or what you’re eating, which don’t get me wrong, I like those too. But this one had more. I liked how rather than being bits and pieces of many days it was a truer representation of your day. I’m a fan! 🙂 Thank you so much for sharing your life with us. I know it’s not always easy but it is fun to take a glimpse into someone else’s life and see the world from their perspective. Hope you have a fantastic week.

  9. Thank you for sharing with us! I loved the video that you made and Miss Grace does steal the show doesn’t she? I giggled so loud when she was playing with the wind up chicken! I agree with you on spending as much time as you can with your family and cherish each moment. Thank you once again….enjoy your bath bombs and candy! Your Easter basket looked amazing!

  10. Loved the vlog – excited to see the rebranded site! We traveled back from Vegas on Easter after being there for a baby shower this past weekend. The friends we stayed with have 2 little boys, so we got to share their Easter egg hunt excitement 🙂 I actually got my fiance that exact pasta extruder for Valentine’s Day this year 🙂 We have made a lot of macaroni. He has an experimental low carb pasta recipe we have been trying out and are very excited about. Still in the experimental stages but hope to be able to share it at some point. We are actually making our favorite recipe tonight: macaroni with a pesto/mascarpone sauce and sausage. It’s a good one! I hope Don likes the new pasta machine!

  11. Hi Jen….. Yes you absolutely should get that dress in the blue. You look super cute in blue and that dress is you to a tee. It’s femanine cute but grown up. I really think you should invest in something you already know you love. You instinctively reached straight for it…. That is a big toluene. Another shade will have a different mood. It follows what we were talking about post kon Marie purge. The important thing is to own things that bring joy. This dress does….. So get it in the new colour!!!!,
Hugs from Spain and thanks for the update on grandma Betty!!
    Sue x

    1. Heaven know how my typing that’s a big clue ended up big toluene whatever that is……. Good old auto correct… X

  12. Happy Easter! It was such fun to share in your day and pick up bits of inspiration to add to my own. I watched a HannahMags vlog about a road trip they took and am going to ask my sister-in-law if we can film an upcoming road trip we will be taking to share with our families. I agree that their down-to-earth style is key to a successful vlog. It’s why I enjoy yours so much.

Post request: Your home Spring Cleaning routine. Also a tour of your DVD shelf. I have purchased the Game of Thrones book series and DVD series based on your suggestion and am totally hooked. (I must be the last person to hear about it!) A recommendation to share that you would absolutely fall in love with – Outlander (the first book) and companion DVD.

    Have a lovely week! Elizabeth

  13. Hi Jen! Happy belated Easter! I’m glad that you had a lovely holiday weekend spent with family and friends. This year, I spent my Eater holiday with my aunt, and my grandparents and we had a lovely time. I’ve also been studying pretty hard on completing my first two quarters of university and I’m so excited to be finished! I’m also really excited to be starting my “personal space decultter” AKA my bedroom and bathroom and I was deeply inspired by your video using the Konmari (did I spell it correctly?) Method that I’m pretty anxious to see how it goes. Your Konmari Method declutter review was an interesting topic of conversation that I had with my relatives, BTW. I was wondering if you will be doing a video/blog post on how you will declutter all of your toiletries and makeup collection using the same method that you did with your clothes? Anyhow, I hope that you have a great week and I can’t wait to see more content from you! Thanks for the inspiration!
