It’s the holiday season! I can’t believe we’re just a few days away from Christmas. I’ve so enjoyed all of the cozy comforts of the holidays this year with the added excitement of preparing for Baby Girl’s impending arrival. I’d like to share some tidbits from my life last week as well as an accompanying photo recap with selections from my Instagram with you.

I mentioned previously that I didn’t go all out in decorating our house for the holidays this year since it is so close to Baby Girl’s due date and I want to make the post-holiday clean-up easy on myself this late in my pregnancy. Holiday bouquets and plants are helping to spruce up our otherwise not so festive kitchen this year. We received both the amaryllis bulb set and beautiful holiday arrangements as gifts. I think this is such a lovely gesture and would make for a great last minute Christmas gift if you’re in a pinch. These beauties make me smile every time I see them. Talk about spreading holiday cheer!
I didn’t put up any of the usual decorations in our bedroom this year either, but we did add some decor updates to the room that make it feel super cozy and ready for winter. We bought an extra large chair from Pottery Barn for our new bedroom reading nook. I accessorized with a faux fur throw and pillows from Restoration Hardware as well as a cute red knit pillow from Pottery Barn for a pop of color. Our dog, Winnie, absolutely loves the new faux sheepskin rug!
I also purchased new decorative bedding for the first time in ages to better compliment our updated wall color. The beautiful snowflake theme duvet cover and shams are from Pottery Barn, which is my favorite place to purchase decorative bedding. We’ve had the brown quilt and matching shams for many years (they were from Restoration Hardware), which match beautifully. I added in the faux fur throw and pillow from Pottery Barn to tie together our cozy winter theme. Our room has transformed into a super comfy retreat!
I continue to enjoy spending time with loved ones in celebration of the season. My mother-in-law, Suzanne, came over last week to teach me how to make a family favorite holiday cookie recipe called Finskies (more widely known as Russian tea cookies or tea cakes). These bite size goodies are delectable, especially served alongside your favorite warm beverage or chilled eggnog. We share the recipe here if you’re interested in checking it out.
On Saturday, my in-laws hosted a tree-trimming/crafting themed *sprinkle* for my sister-in-law, Emily, and her husband, Dave, who are expecting their second child, a boy, this winter. What fun! Suzanne went all out with her holiday decorations. Their new home is beautiful! We made paper chains and pipe-cleaner ornaments to decorate the tree and enjoyed cookies and cocoa by the fire while Emily and Dave opened their presents for Baby Boy. It was such a festive and wonderful evening!
I vlogged showing how I decorated our home for the holidays this year as well as a look at my in-law’s beautiful home:
I’d love to hear about your week if you care to share.
Wishing you and yours all the joy of the season!
