Hiya! I’m sure you’ve noticed that it’s Tuesday ( 😉 ) and I’m just now posting my Week in Review. I’ve decided to go back to posting these on Tuesdays like I did last year, because it gives me a bit more time to work on the post and related video on Monday rather than scrambling to get both up in just a few hours. This is my most “live time” content which I really can’t do much prep ahead for since I’m sharing pictures and thoughts from the previous week. So, I’m going back to the Tuesday posting slot so I can work on the content on Monday, simple as that. If you’re still interested in seeing some tidbits from my life last week as well as an accompanying photo recap with selections from my Instagram feed after that typically long-winded explanation of mine, here’s the buzz:

I’m always delighted to rediscover that something as simple as changing out our bed linens can give the bedroom a whole new feel. I tend to do this seasonally for that reason and also the more practical one of cleaning our quilts, shams, and duvet on a regular basis. We actually got a new duvet late last year, which didn’t include the corner tie anchors that our previous one had. These help keep your duvet cover in place by securing it with ties sewn into the inside corners. After dealing with a shifting duvet cover all winter, I decided it was time to take matters into my own hands and simply sewed on my own corner tie anchors using white ribbon I had on hand. Easy peasy! No more shifty covers.
Speaking of home care, it’s no secret that my favorite place to shop for household supplies is Target. I’ve fallen into a routine of going once every few weeks to stock up when we’re running low. It’s hard to get there during the weekdays and I’m not a big fan of the crowds on the weekends. Last week I discovered the perfect time to shop at Target: weekday evenings! I went after dinner on Wednesday and the store was practically empty! I enjoyed a quiet and relaxed shopping experience and found I didn’t get as sucked into the mysterious Target Vortex where I end up buying completely unnecessary things like I sometimes do when the store is buzzing with shoppers. I realize this might seem like a silly thing to blog about, but it’s small things like this that add up and make a big impact on the quality of my days.
Last week I finally bit the bullet after a few weeks of waffling due to nerves and started running again. I had to take a few months off mainly due to a tweaky back. My body just couldn’t handle the high impact of running and appreciated some time off although my heart missed it quite a bit. I maintained a consistent cardio fitness routine between using the elliptical machine and workout DVDs, but there’s nothing quite like the endorphins from running (think “runner’s high”). I’m feeling great one week back in the running game! I can’t take on half marathon training or hard/long runs right now, but I am relishing just being out there in any way that I can. Low & slow is just fine for me!
I spent the weekend filming a ton of new content for the next couple of weeks as well as working on purging my toiletry and beauty stash. I mentioned in my clothing purge post that I am planning on taking on one room/area of the house per month for my home purge efforts to space things out a bit and give myself time to settle into an easy routine with it. I’m still working through the bedroom this month and am excited to share the results of my beauty purge with you later this week!
In between filming sessions, I was able to spend time outside enjoying this absolutely glorious weather with my pup, Winnie. I’m also happy to report that Don’s back is finally improving after a lot of work in physical therapy and he was able to start playing golf again this weekend. I’m so happy he is able to enjoy his favorite pastime once again! We celebrated with an amazing dinner at Bistro Bordeaux, a French restaurant in Evanston. This place is a real gem! I highly recommend the salmon tartare and moules frites (mussels with fries).
The big news of the week is that I finally got my target=”_blank”>2015 Charity Auction off the ground. Huzzah! I’ve had some trouble jumping through eBay’s hoops and one of my items (the Louis Vuitton Artsy MM) is still under review, but hopefully that will be sorted out soon. I’m blown away by the response already, just a few days in. The auction runs for another 6 days, so there’s still time to bid if you’re interested! You can see pictures, details, and access individual listings to all of the items here and here or everything all in one place here. Happy bidding!
I decided a Q&A session was due and I filmed one this past weekend answering some of your questions. Check it out if you’d like to learn a little more about me:
I’d love to know what you do to freshen up your house for spring as well as your favorite type of fitness if you care to share. I hope the sun is shining and the birds are singing wherever you are!
