Tea Time With Jen | Spring 2015

Tea time is one of my favorite times of day.  I love opening my tea drawer, picking out a blend, and brewing it to enjoy.  There’s something so soothing to me about holding a warm cuppa in my hands, inhaling the steam, savoring the aroma, and of course, the delicious taste.  Today I am sharing my current tea favorites, including any recent empties, what I’m drinking now, recent tea purchases, and my favorite tea accessories with you.

  1. Great tea haul, Jen! It’s always so fun getting to see what other tea lovers are enjoying lately 🙂 It’s hard for me to say an exact favourite at the moment, but I’m always loving a good cup of chai!

    1. Yum! Love rooibos chai….wish popular coffee shop chains would offer that instead of just the black tea variety.

  2. Yay! Love tea time! I think you saw Essie Button’s video on Tea Pigs. That is where I learned of the company and I love, love, love cannot do with the liquorice mint and creme rooiboos. I love that Keep Cup! I actually liked to hear that it won’t keep it warm for too long because I find that sometimes with insulated cups it keeps the tea too warm for too long. Thanks for sharing!

  3. Hi Jen, glad to see your past tea loves and current favorites 🙂 I am a tea lover and have been almost my entire life. I got started when I had my first few cups of black tea from my uncle’s tea pot. Ever since, I have been trying new teas. My favorites are green teas and roiboos teas (the latter later in the day, the green teas for the morning & early afternoon). I have a coconut banana green tea that is amazing! I can taste the coconut and the banana and it is just great. ThI e right mixture of sweetness and that green tea taste. I also have a strawberry and vanilla green tea that is so yummy. As for roiboos, there is one for the summertime with sunflower seeds and flowers. Oh my, that is so good! And plain vanilla teas are also great, IMHO. Oh, and a last one for green tea: Genmaicha Fujiyama. It is bancha tea with popped rice? Love, Kathrin

  4. My daughter is a huge Tea drinker, however we are the process of cutting back sugar. How do you sweeten your tea?

    1. I use honey. One way to gradually wean yourself off sugar or any other sweetener is by reducing the amount you put in a little bit at a time week after week.

  5. Please enter me for the contest. Would love to give this as a gift for my lil sis. She loves tea about as much as you 🙂

  6. hi Jen! I SO enjoy your vlogs and posts – thank you!

I’m wondering if you saw Dr. Oz’s show earlier this week where he recommended drinking iced white tea with a splash of pineapple juice as an afternoon-slump antidote? I tried it and YUM.

Second question: in a vlog you posted around Easter I saw an air-fryer on the counter behind you. Have you or Don used this, and (if so) did you like the results? Any chance you two would consider vlogging about your favorite kitchen appliances and how you use them?

thanks again — and happy spring!

    Cyndy

    1. That does sound yummy! And yes, Don loves the air fryer. I gave it to him for Christmas. Most of the time he “perfects” frozen fries and tater tots in it. It makes him very happy 🙂

  7. Great Video!

My favorite tea is Lemon Zinger von Celestial Seasoning. It is delicious.

    Happy Weekend Jen! 🙂

  8. Jen

I love watching your Tea Time videos. I too have to drink caffeine free drinks for health reasons. I always love to see where and what kind of tea you are trying. My favorites right now are from TeaVana. I am curious about Tea Pig too. I also watched a youtuber discuss this tea. Please let me know how you like it. I am really wanting to try Twinings Intensely Buttermint Tea (another YouTube video). Sounds so yummy. I hope I win one of the KeepCups, but if not, I will have to buy one. I have been interested since I saw yours in the Popsugar box, but the new spring color won me over. Again, I enjoy watching ALL your videos. Take care.

  9. I love Earl Grey and Tazo Awake tea. But I would love to try the Rooibos teas that you described. I’m going to get a couple and see if I like them. Thanks for the video and the give-a-way!

  10. Thanks to your videos, I’ve been drinking more tea!! Lol. My fave right now has to be a chai tea. Although, all of the teas you mentioned sound wonderful. Thanks for sharing.

  11. Hi Jen, Love your videos. How do you brew your tea? Do you think the different ways of brewing tea matters for the taste? Thanks for the give a way.

    1. I use my Breville One Touch Tea Maker, which allows me to easily control the brew temperature and steeping time. I do think it makes a difference, but it is very subtle for the most part.

  12. Absolutely love your tea talk videos! I am currently enjoying Bigelow Ginger Snappish (holiday tea but can still purchase on Amazon, Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride by Celestial Seasoning which you featured on your video. My absolute all time favorite that I can drink year round is Zingiber Ginger Coconut Rooibos by Teavana.

  13. I really enjoyed your blog post! I love tea too…it’s such a simple but divine pleasure.
I host a Christmas Tea every December for the closest ladies in my family and it’s my favorite day of the year.
Thanks for sharing your charming blog posts and infectious personality!
    🙂 Amber

  14. Hi Jen ! Great video. Everyone in my family loves tea as much as you ! I think the cups are so useful for on the go and when you don’t want a huge cup. I will defiantly try some of the teas you showed

    1. Do you mean the contour tumbler? I do have one and it’s not really my favorite. I might do a travel mug comparison review post in the future…

  15. Hi Jen! I loved this video, your channel is so much fun! I am a big black tea drinker (English breakfast like you were!) and I am trying to get away from all the caffeine. Are there any rooibus, oolong, or other non-low caffeine teas that you have found that taste similar? I am thinking of trying the princess breakfast tea you talked about. Thanks so much! 🙂

    1. Most of the teas on my current collection have unique, albeit subtle, flavors. After awhile you pick up on these subtle differences!

  16. Hi Jen, I just wanted you to know you’re my favorite YouTuber. I adore your videos! They always make me feel so happy and motivated. You’re such a pleasant person. I just picked up some celestial seasonings throat tamer today. I also tried the sugar cookie sleigh ride around the holidays. I agree, it is definitely a mild tea. Thanks so much for another wonderful video!

  17. I’ve really been drinking A LOT of hot tea lately. My favorites are: Earl Grey, Cinnamon, Constant Comment, and Cherry Almond…I know, not too adventurous 🙂 but I like them.

  18. I’ve been wanting to try TeaPigs for quite some time now. You’ll have to let us know what you think! I love that you can buy sample sizes with just a couple bags, what a great way to try lots of flavors! BTW, those green and blue keep cups are adorable! LOVE that color combo!

  19. I really enjoyed watching your video!
I love tea,I love your tea cup and I love your videos &posts!
Entered the giveaway, thank you for the opportunity!
    Wish you a fab weekend!

  20. Hi Jen. Loved tea time, I wish we could get some of those brands in Australia as they sound delicious.

I’m a bit of a tea collector, so choosing a favourite is difficult. My current favourites are all from a company called T2 – Creme Brûlée (a flavoured black tea), Toasty Warm (a caffeine free tisane with caramel, nuts and popcorn), Choc Lamington (a chocolate and coconut flavoured black tea), and Spi Chai (a caffeine free chai, just made up of the spices). I also find it hard to go past a good Earl Grey. We are heading into winter here, so I’m gravitating toward the warmer teas now. Summer was full of lots of chilled teas that were mostly fruity and generally caffeine free as well.

Thanks for the video, and the opportunity to win a keep cup. Really enjoying your new content 🙂

  21. hey Jen! Have you tried any of David’s Loose Leaf Teas yet? Look it up, crazy awesome and tons of varieties!!!

  22. Thank you for the opportunity to win that super cute mug! I love your tea time videos. You always introduce me to new teas I have never heard of before!

  23. Love the vid! I’m curious about your thoughts on dandelion tea. I’ve heard it’s good for your digestion, liver and over all detox. Do you know anything about this? Any brands/types that are best to drink? Thanks!

  24. Okay It’s official I went to Teavana today first time. I was kind of out of control. With not knowing what I was doing glad the girl was very helpful. she had me smell the different teas and I knew what I like. was surprised you got so much and it looked like nothing but still you end up with alot of cups. I ended up buying Smores, Maharaja chai with Samioa (had a sample of this one hot liked it),
zinbiber ginger coconut (had sample and she recommended this one), Marshmallow Macarone, Peach Tranquilty, mint Majesty and caramel almond amaretti. I think she made me a iced marshmallow and peach one when I left it was really good also got the tea comparion, one of their clear mug and the plastic thing to make the tea, a little timer, filters if I want to take one or two to the shore on weekends, 2 colorful travel things, a spoon then she asked if I had jars to put the tea in and of course I don’t so ended up with 2 she gave me discounted. so one bag still isn’t in a jar.
Then I didn’t stop at that when I got home I called republic of tea and got Lemon chiffon, cuppa chocolate assortment, decaf vanilla almond, Plaintain coconut green rooibos a travel tin of the good hope vanilla (all tea bags) and got a sip by sip travel tea press. Did I go alittle out of control or what. the girl in teavana when I said I’m a microwarer tea drinker she said oh no not with these. so I came home and my tea kettle which I’ve never used is now out on the stove. I’m really excited to do this.
I really thought in teavana you could buy enough for just 2 or 3 cups of tea but that is not how it goes. Looking forward to giving my first cup of tea tomorrow a try.

      1. So far the teas I’ve had I have enjoyed. If I have to pick 1 not to buy again maybe the Oprah chai which I bought the second day I had go go back to teavana they did not give me the coaster that went with the perfect tea maker. It was still sitting on there shelf. But I had them give me a free ice tea. He used one of the teas I had already with a orange one which was good. Will have to get it next time. Found out too that take the Starbucks gift certificates which I did not know I had a few of them. Also found at they have another store at a different mall I go to that is easier to get too and not so far out on the one highway. Still waiting for republics delivery the tracking says it left the site in my state. Does it come by the brown truck or by regular mail. I never know.

  25. I received a sample of the Lemon Chiffon Cuppa Cake Herb Tea with my last Republic of tea order and it was delicious. My last two teams were the coconut cocoa tea and the chocolate strawberry tea, both from Republic of Tea.

  26. Hi I love your tea video will definetly have to give some of them a try one of my favorite places to get tea right now is the willow tree in mn as they have tons of variety they blend right there as well as having a option to add to and create your own tea. I love creating my own if you are ever looking for a new tee place I’d check them out

  27. Your video really got me inspired! I know someone mentioned David’s Tea before, but I might head on over there and check their herbal teas. I also have trouble with caffeine and I’m trying to get creative with herbal teas.
Oh, and I also went ahead and ordered a keepcup, they’re so cute!

  28. It was hard to pick a favorite tea I drink. I drink all but black tea. I loved the Tea Time Video ! Thank you for telling us about each tea. It helps me when I get ready to shop for tea. I hope you are having a lovely day.

  29. Hi Jen ! I watch you from France very often. I really enjoy to have a cup of tea and this Keep Cup is interesting 😉
Thank you for your videos ! I like spending time to look at them !
    Corinne

  30. Loved your tea time video. I’ve always loved tea,but had gotten away from it until I moved to Houston from Los Angeles. Yao Ming was an NBA player who owns a restaurant called Yao’s. My friends at work and I make a trip at least weekly for the Blooming Fairy Flower Tea. It comes from China in almost like a ball and they bring it in a clear teapot and warmer and it literally opens or blooms into a flowering tea in front of your eyes. It is really calming and tastes amazing. We love it so much that I ordered clear teapots from Amazon as well as a bag of small flowering tea balls for 4 of my friends and myself for Christmas. I actually bought 2 for myself! Fyi Teavana sells 2 of them and they are a Pineapple flowering tea and a Peach flowering tea. It’s a bit pricey $18.99 per 2 oz, but I believe it’s worth it! You should check it out.

  31. I’ve been trying different random teas for a while and haven’t really hit on any that I really like. Thanks for sharing, I’m going to try out some of these and see if I can find a favorite.
