Pregnancy Update | 30 – 31 Weeks

It’s pregnancy update time! In my weekly update I share what’s happening in my pregnancy journey with you. This includes general stats such as how I’m feeling, any symptoms I’m experiencing, food cravings and aversions, weight gain, bump shots, etc., as well as what’s going on in my life that’s pregnancy-related and any baby things we’ve purchased or received as gifts. Here’s the scoop at 31 weeks:

2 weeks makes a big difference in the third trimester! 😀

Here’s the current status:

 How Far Along – 31 weeks (8 months!)

Baby Size Comparison – Coconut (18″ Head to Toe and 3.2 pounds)

❊ Movement  Now that Baby Girl is so much bigger I can really feel and see her moving.  In the last week I’ve noticed her pushing against the walls of the uterus more, which distorts my belly in a funny way.  I never knew that baby stretches could be so cute in utero!

Symptoms – A bit of “tight belly” sensations, which according to my doctor are most likely very mild Braxton Hicks contractions.  These are very infrequent and not even uncomfortable at this point, just noticeable.  My uterus is starting to practice for the big show!

 Physical Changes – Quite a bit of belly growth since my last update 2 weeks ago.  Fortunately my boobs are not also increasing in size at this moment. 😉

Weight Gain – 3 pounds (25 total)

 Mood – I’ve been in a super duper good mood these past two weeks.  I’m getting so excited!

Sleep – Most nights I sleep about 8 – 9 hours.  I’m pleasantly surprised that my sleep has remained so consistent and solid throughout my pregnancy up until this point.

Food Cravings – I’ve been on more of a peanut butter kick lately.  Also, I can’t resist my husband’s amazing grilled cheese sandwiches.  Yum!

Food Aversions – Fish and Chinese Food (but mostly just the smell).

Missing – Being able to wear my regular bra all day.  By the evening my chest starts to feel pretty constricted so I end up putting on a loosey goosey sleep bra.  It’s not a big deal, really, but one of those little things you take for granted when you’re not pregnant.  Breathing easy is worth the small effort, though.

Looking Forward To – My baby shower this weekend!  My sister-in-law has been hard at work finalizing the details and it’s all very hush hush.  I can’t wait!

 This Week’s Happenings – I traveled with a friend last week to spend a few days at a spa.  We had a great time!  That was my last trip until next summer, most likely, when we have family travel plans.  Don and I attended a Preparing for Childbirth workshop at our hospital over the weekend, which we both thoroughly enjoyed and found extremely informative and helpful.  We covered everything from the stages of labor and lamaze techniques to medical interventions.  The workshop ended on Sunday with a tour of the Labor & Delivery and Mother & Baby wards.  We both feel much better prepared for what to expect from our hospital experience.

  1. I agree with you on the weight gain during pregnancy. For the first trimester and halfway through the third, I was very cautious of what I was weighing – especially because I had never really stepped on a scale before getting pregnant. Seeing the 1-5 pound gain every time I would go to the doctors was shocking and I started to become obsessed. And then I got a stretch mark. On my hip. Not even on my stomach. After that, I was like “you know what, this is inevitable. This is going to happen. I’m not going to stress over it anymore.” But, unlike you, I’ve had numerous people (from my first trimester) stating “whoa – you’re going to pop!” “you’re never going to make it to 9 months!” “are you sure there’s not two in there?”.. crazy what people feel comfortable saying to you. I’m currently 34 weeks, and I’ve learned over the past few weeks that my body is capable of growing a child and as long as she’s healthy, that’s all that matters!

  2. You look beautiful! Your skin is glowing. What type of blush do you use? I’m not much on wearing makeup but I sometimes like to put on blush for a bit of color. How do you like Tarte’s collections? I might try their At First Blush set but my skin is sensitive so I’ll have to see if it causes any breakouts.

  3. It was good to watch your update and see you doing so well. I never feel your videos are too long. My BFF and I love to ramble and hear each other ramble. Love the details. I had to laugh a little when you dropped your essential oil bottle. I use essential oils every day and frequently find them flinging out of my hand just like yours did. I wonder why they do that! Mine have never broken. They are made tough, I guess. You have a great attitude and a sweet spirit. Take care.

You look wonderful and you seem to have such a good attitude with everything pregnancy and just enjoying this precious little gift!   8. I am so happy to hear how much you’ve embraced your body and how amazing it is through pregnancy. I had my little boy a couple of months back and I LOVED my big round belly, kinda miss the baby bump still. I want to recommend checking out the Snuza Hero Baby Movement Monitor. It is a SIDS monitor that clips on the babys diapers. It GREATLY reduced my anxiety whenever my babies slept. Love your videos and hope things continue well for you both.

    You look great and are in the home stretch now! I was wondering if you have given any thought as to whether or not you will want to join any mommy groups? As someone that has also struggled with some anxiety in social settings, I found it to be an overwhelming thought during pregnancy but now (1 year later) I feel that the group I’m apart of is invaluable. The support of family and friends during those first few months is always great but it’s nothing like having someone to lean on that is going through the same thing you are as baby grows older. I will say that I am a planner and researcher by nature so it took some time to find the “right” group as there are many in my area.
