Pregnancy Update | 29 Weeks

It’s pregnancy update time! In my weekly update I share what’s happening in my pregnancy journey with you. This includes general stats such as how I’m feeling, any symptoms I’m experiencing, food cravings and aversions, weight gain, bump shots, etc., as well as what’s going on in my life that’s pregnancy-related and any baby things we’ve purchased or received as gifts. Here’s the scoop at 29 weeks:

bump update 29 weeks 2015

Here’s the current status:

How Far Along – 29 weeks (3rd Trimester)

Baby Size Comparison – Head of Cabbage (really?) (17″ Head to Toe and 2.9 pounds)

❊ Movement  I notice Baby Girl moving mostly before and after meals.  I’ve also noticed what I think are hiccups, which feels like a lighter, more rhythmic kind of movement.

Symptoms – I came down with a cold last week, but fortunately it was very mild.  I’m already 99% better!

Physical Changes – A bit of belly growth.  Nothing huge, but definite progress!

Weight Gain – 0 pounds (22 total)

Mood – I had a really good week despite feeling a bit under the weather.

Sleep – Most nights I sleep about 9 hours.  It’s heavenly!

Food Cravings – Cereal still has my heart.  I’m also loving the Talenti Pumpkin Pie Gelato for an occasional treat.

Food Aversions – Fish and Chinese Food (but mostly just the smell).

Missing – Running.  Just a little bit.  Fall has always been my favorite time to run outside.  I stopped running when I conceived on the advice of my healthcare practitioners and I decided to stick with low impact exercise for the duration of my pregnancy.  I hope to pick it back up again next spring.

Looking Forward To – My last trip before baby.  Technically I’m cleared to fly up until 36 weeks, but I figured now would be a good time for my last trip pre-baby, especially with the busy holidays right around the corner.  I’m going to a spa for a bit of R&R before the holiday craze and baby time.

nursery progress october 2015

This Week’s Happenings – We had the baby’s room painted in Benjamin Moore Lambskin.  I love the way it turned out!  It comes off much pinker in photos and videos than in person, but it does have a warmer tone.  I like to think of it as a soft almond color.  It feels very cozy even with no furniture and two big bright windows, which is what I was aiming for.  We had the closet doors replaced from wide swing outs to an accordion style that takes up much less room when open.  They look lovely!  I also ordered some rug and window treatment swatches from RH Baby & Child and am hoping to narrow down those choices by the end of the week.  Things are coming together!

maternity holiday shirt haul october 2015

I purchased a couple of cute handmade maternity holiday shirts from a chop on Etsy called MommasCraftCorner, including the Disney Inspired Mickey Pumpkin Halloween Maternity Shirt and the Disney Inspired Christmas Mickey Maternity Shirt shown above.  The owner was super sweet about my request to tweak the design so that the Halloween one reads “Our Little Pumpkin” and the Christmas one says “Jingle Baby.”  I just love Etsy for finding cute and unique items like these!

I’ve also picked up some other fall and winter maternity clothes that I plan on sharing in a haul soon.
Stay tuned 🙂

I talk more about my week in this video if you’re interested:

Thank you so much for your well wishes, kind words, and helpful advice.  I appreciate your support so much!

  1. Hi Jen!

I have been following you for years and I cannot even begin to express the joy i have for you and Don about your pregnency! I had tears rolling down my face in your announcement video. So happy that things are going well for you and I love hearing about your pregnancy every week. xox

  2. Hi Jen!
Serisouly consider the blackout shades! I didn’t think we needed them either but some things I did not consider before our daughter arrived and learned rather quickly are:

-When the sun rises early in the morning, baby is more likely to wakeup during her light sleep cycles (which fall between 3-6 am), possibly shortening her total nighttime sleep and vice versa when baby is ready for bed and the sun hasn’t gone down it will be more difficult for her to realize it’s nighttime.
-A naptime environment that is similar to nighttime sleep encourages the best (even though baby obvisouly won’t be sleeping for the same lenght of time).
-Baby will get used to sleeping in regular daylight in the car, etc. but it’s definitely worth it to have those shades for when she is sleeping in her crib!

Just a few tips as a fellow new mama (our daughter is 6 months old). We have the PB Kids blackout drapes and they are great!

I know the nursery will turn out beautifully, enjoy decorating it! 🙂

  3. LOVE the paint color choice for the nursery! And the shirts are just too stinkin’ cute! I sure do enjoy seeing your weekly bump shots of baby girl growing — you’re glowing and just beautiful!

  4. Love the updates, You are doing wonderful. I had a regular delivery with both my babies and I chose to stay the 2 days. I kept my children in my room and only took them to the nursery when I took a shower if my husband was not there. I liked staying the 2 days even with my 2nd baby because, it gives you a great place to get to know your child, get rest if needed and also the comfort of knowing that if you need help those wonderful nurses are there for you. my mother had 5 kids and was a nurse and she is the one that told me to stay and enjoy those first few days with help if you need it.

  5. Hi Jen! Hope all is well this week. Haven’t seen the big 3-0 update yet!
I’m 26 weeks myself (with my second) and loving your updates
