Pregnancy Update | 26 Weeks

It’s pregnancy update time! In my weekly update I share what’s happening in my pregnancy journey with you. This includes general stats such as how I’m feeling, any symptoms I’m experiencing, food cravings and aversions, weight gain, bump shots, etc., as well as what’s going on in my life that’s pregnancy-related and any baby things we’ve purchased or received as gifts. Here’s the scoop at 26 weeks:

Here’s the current status:

How Far Along – 26 weeks (last week of my second trimester!)

Baby Size Comparison – Eggplant (9+″ Head to Rump / 13-14″ Head to Toe and 2 pounds)

Symptoms – The leg cramps and frog-in-throat acid reflux have not been issues for me this past week and in general I’ve been feeling great.  I did have a bit of an off weekend, starting with some pretty intense lower abdominal pressure on Friday.  I was a bit worried about it since it was so consistent and didn’t let up, so I went to my general practitioner’s walk in hours on Saturday morning just to be sure I didn’t have some sort of bladder infection or UTI.  By the time I saw the doctor I was starting to feel relief (isn’t that always the way!), but she ran a full urine analysis just to be sure.  Fortunately, everything came back clear.  I’m glad I went to have it checked out just to be on the safe side.  By the end of the weekend I felt 100% normal once again.

Physical Changes – Growing by leaps and bounds each week now!  I feel like the changes are starting to become more noticeable, which is exciting.

Here’s another shot of my bump, taken with my iPhone instead of my dSLR, exactly on my flip day (Sunday).  This is what my bump looks like to me currently when I look in the mirror.  Sometimes I feel like my weekly shots aren’t exactly true to life, but I do like the side by side comparison in the same outfit each week:

Weight Gain – 0 pounds (20 total)

Mood – Despite having a weird week in my personal life, I remained happy and pretty calm for the most part, which is nice.

Sleep – I’ve been sleeping about 9 hours each night.  I did have a few bad sleep nights last week, one due to feeling off on Friday and another due sheerly to anxiety over my registry (I know, how lame, but that’s what happened!).  I’m hoping to return to better sleep this week.

Food Cravings – I’ve been all about yogurt and granola this week, specifically fruit-flavored yogurt.  I have a little everyday as my afternoon snack and it’s heaven!

Food Aversions – Fish.  Not to be confused with seafood, which I still enjoy eating for the most part.

Missing – A full week’s worth of good sleep.  I’m hoping for better sleep this week.

Looking Forward To – Decorating the house for fall.  I’ve always been into celebrating seasons and holidays, but there’s something extra special about fall this year.  I keep thinking about how next fall I’ll get to share some of my favorite parts of the season with Baby Girl.  I have a feeling Christmas is going to be extra special this year, too!

This Week’s Happenings – I saw my doctor for my monthly appointment and all is well.  She took my fundal height and I’m measuring right on track.  I did the glucose test, which came back normal.  Yay!  I also completed our baby registry for the most part, which was tasked to me since baby shower invitations went out this week.  I don’t know why I got so anxious I lost sleep over it, LOL!  I think that was just a pregnancy related fluke.  I decided to register online for ease of use and because I wanted to be able to register privately.  Our registry is not searchable; you must have an exact link to access it.  I will be sharing what’s on my baby registry down the road, but I want to keep it private and just for family and close friends for now.  I’m happy to have wrapped that up!

I talk more about my week in this video if you’re interested:

Thank you so much for your well wishes, kind words, and helpful advice.  I appreciate your support so much!

  1. Huge congrats on your pregnancy. Its fantastic to see you getting on so well. The remainder of it will fly in for you. Ive been trying for a long time now so fingers crossed it happens soon. Can be a little disheartening but seeing you pregnant and doing so well gives me some hope

  2. I know that you have a while but I just wanted to share how we handled vacations with our children. I have two a girl than a boy around 2 years apart. When our youngest was around 3 we would use our zoo membership and science museum memberships that reciprocated and take a weekend getaway. So the weekend would include the zoo and a museum and maybe one other fun thing. They were always laid-back and we chose areas within a three hour drive to visit. This worked for us and to this day (the children are 20-22) they still remember the different zoo’s and museums and actually take their significant others. It gave them knowledge and the little bug to travel. We did Disney at 5/7 and while we enjoyed it, it was too stressful for me personally. I enjoyed the later trips to Disney and my favorite was when they were 12/14. Just wanted to give a quick suggestion but I too suffer from goes on too long… lol!

  3. You look fantastic!! I can’t believe how quickly these weeks are flying by. We will be meeting your little one in no time! Any idea if you will be doing an “online baby shower” or anything like that with your followers? I know I would love to send you something but would want it something you want/need versus something random I send you! Keep us posted 🙂

    1. Thank you! I don’t think I’ll do a virtual baby shower…I wouldn’t feel comfortable with something like that personally. I love getting snail mail from you guys, but I feel a little bad when people spend their money on me or my family. That being said, I have so enjoyed all of the beautiful & thoughtful gifts people have sent us. It’s truly the thought that means the most. If you’d like to send a card or note I’d love to hear from you! You can find my address in the FAQ section 🙂

  4. Well, I am sorry you had a rough week, but to look at you, you look wonderful. You are glowing and your face looks beautiful.

    1. Aww thank you! It wasn’t all that bad, just not as smooth sailing as the previous weeks, but I really don’t have anything to complain about 🙂

  5. I’m 10 weeks 5 days pregnant with my second and I love reading your weekly updates! You inspired me to start my own blog to document my pregnancy 🙂

  6. Hi Jen,
I love keeping up with your pregnancy. I have always loved your channel, but love the new connection between us as I am a new first time mom also. I would love to know if you have considered cloth diapering, or if not what type of disposable diapers you have looked at using. I know you thoroughly research things and trust your honest opinion. It’s so nice to have the registry done!
