I’m excited to share about a fun product I’ve had the pleasure of testing out for the past couple of months. As many of you know, I’ve recently become interested in adding decorative elements to my planner. The Polaroid Zip mobile printer* is a great little device for on-the-go photo printing. I personally enjoy using these photos in my planner, but they’re also great for scrapbooking, memory keeping, and sharing!
The nice folks at ErinCondren.com reached out to me a couple of months ago to see if I’d be interested in checking out their new product partnership with Polaroid ZIP. I’d never used anything like it before and wouldn’t have thought I’d come to enjoy a mobile printer so much, but it seemed like a fun concept so I thought I’d give it a try. I’m so glad that I did, because it’s become one of my favorite fun extras to add some flair to my planner!
The Polaroid ZIP mobile printer* measures 2.9″ wide x 4.7″ long x 0.9″ high and weighs just 6.6 ounces making it easy to carry and travel with. It comes with directions for use (including how to install and use the coordinating free mobile app), a charging cord, and 10 Polaroid 2″ x 3″ Premium ZINK zero ink papers.
The basic Erin Condren Polaroid Zip bundle comes with the mobile printer and a perfectly sized decal available in three designs, including fleur feliz, braided hues, and watercolor shine. You can purchase the printer elsewhere, but it is the same price ($130) and you get the decal as a free bonus if you buy through ErinCondren.com. They also offer a three-piece bundle for $149 that includes the printer, decal, and a matching carry-all clutch (a $167 value), also available in the three designs.
Additional Polaroid ZINK paper is available for purchase in both 30 and 50 packs, broken down into 10 packs for convenience. Each pack comes with a blue sheet with a barcode indicating which way to load the paper. It’s basically fool proof! ZINK stands for Zero Ink Printing Technology. The pigment is built right into the paper, so there’s never a need to buy ink. How cool is that?
The Premium ZINK paper is smudge-proof, water and tear-resistant. It has a peel-off adhesive backing that is repositionable in my experience. Polaroid touts their ZINK paper to be fade resistant even with exposure to light, heat and humidity. The quality of printed photos is excellent. I feel like they print with a bit of an antiqued hue compared to the originals, but the images are crisp and vibrant.
The printer connects to both iOS and Android devices via Bluetooth, for a streamlined wireless connection. You simply download the free Polaroid ZIP app, set up the Bluetooth connection, and presto, you can print wirelessly! The app gives several printing options, including a full size quick print, photo edit options, collage frames, and more.
I personally like to use my Polaroid ZIP to add decorative elements to my Erin Condren Life Planner*. In the lefthand photo above, I share how I use a photo printed on ZINK paper within a mostly functional planner spread to highlight a special memory. The right photo showcases how I used photos in a purely decorative spread in a scrapbooking type of function during a recent family trip.
I like to use the collage feature of the Polaroid ZIP app to fit multiple photos on one sheet of ZINK paper. It’s so easy it is to size the photos how you want just using a pinch and sweep motion within the app’s editing features. The great thing about the ZINK paper for Erin Condren Life Planner users is that you can print two photos on one 2″ x 3″ sheet, cut the paper in half, and each photo fits perfectly inside the 1.5″ x 2″ boxes in the weekly spreads.
