Planner Overview | September 2015

Hello fellow Planner Enthusiasts!  I’m back with another monthly planner overview where I share how I use my Erin Condren Life Planner* as both my work and personal time management helper with stickers.  This is my second full month using this system and I’m really enjoying it!

Monthly Spread

planner overview september 2015 month

I’m still using the monthly spread in pretty much the same capacity as I have for the last couple of years when I used my Life Planner for my work schedule alone.  I print color blocks on Avery 5418 labels and then use Avery’s free online Design & Print software to customize with text.  I color code based on the three main categories of my posts.  I usually have a blog post and video that go up together, but every once in awhile I only have one or the other, which is why I like to have separate labels for each.

I do not have a tutorial for how I make my custom Avery 5418 labels, because I use Photoshop, which I realize isn’t a program most people have.  Carissa Wiley on YouTube has a great video tutorial for how to make something similar using Microsoft Word or Photoshop Elements if you’re interested in trying this out for yourself.

I mark off travel with orange stripe washi and time off from posting with red arrow washi.  It can be a challenge to keep up with my posting schedule when I’m not home and having this visual allows me to prepare better.

As for planner accessories, I loved using the gorgeous Watercolor Shine cover for the month of September.  The message on the front is a beautiful reminder to be your true self!  The little purple and grey fluff balls at the top right of my planner are paper clip bookmarks from Peach Pom.  I use these to mark off my current month and week spreads.  I absolutely love that they color coordinate with the Erin Condren monthly scheme, as well.  I like it when things match.

All of the sticker sources used are listed below each weekly spread’s photo.  Check the very bottom of the post for current coupon codes if you’re interested in shopping!

I decided to film a video showing each spread since there was some interest in that as well:

I’m not sure if I’ll continue to film a video each month, but I do plan on keeping up with these blog posts for the time being.  Let me know what you think!
Here’s a sneak peak at October:

  1. Love the video. So far my favorite resource for stickers is Planner Chick Designs. My planner is more like yours, in that I am more of a list maker than a decorator, but I love adding the little flourishes just for fun.

  2. Did I miss? How did you do the photo stickers? Are they photos? Love them! Want to duplicate that look – how? Thanks Jen!

  3. I really enjoy your monthly EC video. This is what caught my attention last month and brought me to your site. I’d definitely keep it going. So helpful for me – and I actually bought an EC planner after I watched it!

  4. Hey! I use the Avery stickers as well and use the avery print & design online. It was easy to use and has some clip art if you need it! I think the instructions are in the Avery packs when you buy them!

  5. Hi Jen, I’d like to suggest you do a video using Photoshop to make your stickers if you have time. I do have the software and am not very comfortable using it. Maybe there are others who are in the same boat. Also, perhaps there are some who may wish to purchase the software.

    1. I’m honestly not very well versed in graphic design or Photoshop si I wouldn’t feel comfortable putting up a tutorial…but I’m sure others have! Have you tried searching YouTube?

  6. Just wondering the stickers you make at the bottom of you planner- your social media stickers- Are they Avery labels also? I know you make them yourself on photoshop just wondering what sticker paper its printed on. Avery? and do you just cut them out yourself?

  7. i really love your post and video and hope that you’ll continue to show us how you orgized tyour EC planner. i woukd like to know what are you writing at the weekly goals part?

    thank you

    1. I hope to start sharing these kinds of posts again soon once I get back into planning. I haven’t used my planner since the arrival of our baby, but once things are settled I know it’ll be more useful than ever before!
