Planner Overview | October 2015

Hello fellow Planner Enthusiasts!  I’m back with another monthly planner overview where I share how I use my Erin Condren Life Planner* as both my work and personal time management helper with stickers. I’ve used this system for three months now and really enjoy it!

Planner Accessories

 october 2015 planner overview accessories

I used the fun and festive Spooky Groove cover I purchased last year for the month of October again in celebration of Halloween. I especially love the cute little spiders in the design!

The little brown and orange fluff balls at the top right of my planner are paper clip bookmarks from Peach Pom.  I use these to mark off my current month and week spreads.  I absolutely love that they color coordinate with the Erin Condren monthly scheme, as well.  I like it when things match.

I also like using Girl of All Work sticky tabs in my planner for easily movable and removable notes. I use them in my monthly spreads as reminders or for advance planning/post brainstorming. At the beginning of each week I use the tabs to mark off appointments or other scheduled activities for the week since I only plan with stickers one day at a time.

 Monthly Spread

october 2015 planner overview month

I’m still using the monthly spread in pretty much the same capacity as I have for the last couple of years when I used my Life Planner for my work schedule alone.  I print color blocks on Avery 5418 labels and then use Avery’s free online Design & Print software to customize with text.  I color code based on the three main categories of my posts.  I usually have a blog post and video that go up together, but every once in awhile I only have one or the other, which is why I like to have separate labels for each.

I do not have a tutorial for how I make my custom Avery 5418 labels, because I use Photoshop, which I realize isn’t a program most people have.  Carissa Wiley on YouTube has a great video tutorial for how to make something similar using Microsoft Word or Photoshop Elements if you’re interested in trying this out for yourself.

I mark off travel with orange stripe washi and time off from posting with red arrow washi.  It can be a challenge to keep up with my posting schedule when I’m not home and having this visual allows me to prepare better.

All of the sticker sources used are listed below each weekly spread’s photo.  Check the very bottom of the post for current coupon codes if you’re interested in shopping!

  1. Thank you for sharing! I love your spreads!! Different things work for different people but I do enjoy how functional and simple yours are while still very beautiful at the same time.

  2. I love your spreads! I have been loving the stickers from Paper Loving Mommy. I just got some super cute stickers from Paws Paper! ADORABLE!

I have to ask what pen you have in your coil-looks very sleek and in addition to being a planner enthusiast, I may have a pen fetish! 🙂

  3. Love the monthly overview!!! Halloween was super cute!! I am new to following you and I couldn’t be happier I did, lots of awesome videos, posts, and pictures!!! So wonderful!!!!

  4. I love you sharing your planner with us. You have some great ideas and I especially love the different variety of stickers and how you use them. I can’t wait to sticker shop!!!!

  5. Thanks for sharing! I am always debating the use of electronic planners vs. my Erin Condren planner, because the EC planners are pretty bulky to carry around. Using stickers the way you do would really motivate me to keep using my planner, making the bulk worth it. Please keep up these posts and Happy Holidays! ☺️

  6. I just wanted to say what an amazing job you do in your work- I am always so impressed at how thorough your information is, thank you!xo

  7. I love seeing how you use your EC planner! I have used mine for 2+ years now and am just dipping my toe in the water using stickers after seeing how you use yours! Love how it looks! I am wondering if you take your EC with you when you go out shopping or to appointments, or if you take some other kind of calendar with you so you can make appointments on the go, track shopping lists, etc?

    1. My ECLP lives at home for the most part. I use iCal on my phone for appointment management and I’ve always been a sticky note list-maker when it comes to shopping.

      1. Thanks Jen! I’ve been using Cozi on my phone for appointments but I recently was in an area that didn’t have a signal to access it to make a follow up appointment. So now I’m thinking about adding a small MO2P calendar to my Midori Passport that I take with me everywhere and where I write notes, lists etc. I’m slowly going back to the pre-technology ways I guess! 🙂 Enjoy your week!

  8. I love the way your planner looks – it’s decorative and pretty but you are still clearly able to see the tasks and events. I love how you make it pretty and colorful but still neat and organized. 🙂 Thanks for sharing this with us!

  9. Hi Jen…Love your planner and reviews! I am wondering if you have ever used the EC customized planner and how does it compare to the ECLP? Thank you!

  10. Your planner is awesome!! How did you make the social media stickers at the bottom? I would like to do something similar for may daily tasks as a checklist at the bottom of my ECLP too. Did you make a video for these?

  11. After much consideration and reading/watching all your planner posts I purchased a Good to Go Life Planner! I did GTG because I could create a free personalized cover later for free and take my time to decide what I want. I wasn’t in a hurry, just thought it was a nice perk once I had the product in hand 🙂 I entered my code for a FREE cover and it didn’t take away the shipping or decrease it to at least something understandable. I couldn’t believe I have pay an additional $10, around the same amount as the “free cover”, when I could have had it done in the first place with the original shipping I already paid for? The fact that I have to pay shipping AGAIN for a COMPLIMENTRY extension of a product that I already paid shipping for is just sad. I could have upgraded to a metallic personalized planner for that price or even cheaper. I contacted customer service and they basically told me it’s my loss and they won’t do anything. So disappointed I want to cry even though I do love the planner. Just wanted you to be aware of a “glitch” in the system in my opinion. Thank you.
