Mommy Favorites | One Month Old

In addition to my monthly lifestyle favorites I thought it would be fun to also share my current top picks as a new Mommy.  I’m going to talk a bit about my favorite products from the past month as well as hopefully also other things such as activities and venues as my daughter, CC, grows into enjoying those sorts of things later on.  These posts will reflect my favorites based on her age.

❊ Fisher-Price My Little Snugabunny Deluxe Newborn Vibrating Rock n’ Play Sleeper – Little CC loves this sleeper so much that after a couple of weeks we bought a second one to keep upstairs in our house.  Not only is it comfy, the vibrating feature makes it extra soothing.  This isn’t technically a bassinet and I personally don’t feel comfortable letting CC sleep in it unattended because of the fabric and cushioning up by her head, but it’s the perfect place to pop her in for daytime naps when I can keep an eye on her and get some things done around the house.

❊ HALO Premiere Series Bassinet Swivel Sleeper Bassinet – CC spends the night in this bassinet which I have pulled up next to my side of the bed.  I love how it swivels smoothly for my convenience to get in and out of bed.  The mesh siding provides peace of mind when I’m asleep, as CC likes to scooch her little body up to the side of the bassinet in her sleep.  The height is adjustable as well so it is easy to position for the best access.

❊ Sleep Sheep – Where would we be without Sleep Sheep?  These little white noise machines make CC a happy sleeper!  They come with a variety of sounds (CC prefers the ocean one), two timer options, and a velcro attachment.  We have the regular (larger) sleep sheep attached to the bassinet and the travel (smaller) one on the Snugabunny on the main level of our house.

❊ HALO SleepSack Micro-Fleece Swaddle – CC likes to be swaddled to sleep since her startle reflex is pretty strong and she can easily wake herself up before she’s ready when her arms are loose.  I rest easy at night with her in the sleepsack swaddle because I know it won’t accidentally bunch up around her face.  Plus, it’s super easy to get off and on again for middle of the night diaper changes.

❊ Carter’s Fleece Zip-Up Sleep & Play – These fleecy footed pajamas were CC’s staple daytime wardrobe for the first month of her life.  They’re soft and cozy without being too warm and super easy to get on and off for newbie parents like me and Don.  Plus, Carter’s often has great sales and coupons making their clothes super affordable, which is extra nice since babies grow out of things so quickly.

❊ Stripe & Dot Boppy Feeding & Support Pillow & Slipcovers – I’ve used and loved my Boppy pillow for breastfeeding since day one.  It was especially helpful for me for the first two weeks as I was quite tender recovering from my c-section.  I kept it around my middle when feeding to support CC and protect my incision.  Since then, I’ve taken to just using it tucked under the arm of the side I’m feeding on for comfort.  It’s the perfect height and firmness to help make breastfeeding more comfortable for me.

❊ Water Wipes – These wipes are chemical and worry free.  They’re quite wet so they really pack a punch and they don’t irritate CC’s skin.  I love that they’re fragrance-free as well.

❊ BabyConnect – I read about this app on Veronika’s Blushing just before I gave birth to CC and I’m so glad I decided to download it because it is amazing!  It’s such an easy and accessible way to keep track of CC’s feedings, sleep, diapers, and more.  I always have my phone on me these days as it’s actually the easiest way for Don & me to communicate when we’re on different levels of the house without having to yell and especially since I like to be able to snap photos of my sweet girl whenever a special moment strikes.  I rely on this app to help me track CC’s progress and health.

I talk about each item in more detail in this video:

I hope you enjoyed this look at some of my top picks for my one month old.  I would love to know what some of your Mommy favorites are if you care to share!

  1. I love water wipes! I feel better about wiping my daughters face and hands with these versus regular wipes. Great for in between bath neck roll cleaning!

  2. Little Remedies Gripe Water was a lifesaver for us with our first! He was always getting the hiccups and would get upset by them. A very small amount stopped them every time. I think it helps with colic also. Essential item for us!

I’ve never heard of Water Wipes! I’m due with my third in April so I’ll try them out. Both of my other boys always had sensitive skin. Thanks for the great tip!

  3. I am so glad you posted! I am almost 32 weeks and was hoping to hear some recommendations before my baby is here. I am registered for the halo already- glad you love it. Curious about the halo swaddle- I plan to use them, too-how many do you think it is necessary to have? Also, what stroller did you pick out? I love to hear what you recommend because I know you research things like I like to do and I appreciate that I can trust your posts and sometimes save myself some time. Thank you! CC is beautiful!

    1. We have 3 Halo swaddle sleepsacks and I do baby laundry about every two days. I like to always have one clean one on back up in case she spits up on one during the night. As for the stroller, we went with the UppaBaby Vista but haven’t ad an opportunity to use it yet. When it’s warm enough to take her out for walks with Winnie I carry her in a wrap for warmth. Hope to have more outings & opportunities to use the stroller after her 8 week shots.

  4. I love carter’s too! As a mom of four sweet peas 8 years to 13 months, carter’s, and target are a huge budget saver!:) hugs and congrats on baby CC. She is a doll:)

  5. I picked up something like the snugabunny/puppy when my son was a couple months old. Life changing! Those things are pure magic, aren’t they? I remember carrying it around the house and finally getting things done. Why didn’t we think to buy two?

But Jen, make sure you’re getting a break! You look absolutely exhausted in this video. I was never big on napping either, but do try to spend her nap times relaxing. Your fans won’t go anywhere if you step away from this for your daughter. You come first!

    1. I can’t help it, I’ve never been a good napper and even now I really can’t. It makes me feel like my old self to do house chores and create content, so that’s what I choose to do during her naps.

      1. I think Jen looks happy. Maybe a bit different than pre-CC, but obviously getting adjusted to a new life takes its toll, not to mention the operation. In the video her attention is shifting to her lovely daughter every now and then, so it is only natural to seem a bit unfocused.

Actually, the fact that you are not trying to fake anything is why I like your blog Jen, regardless of the fact that I am living a very different life on the other side of the globe. Anyhow, I just want to say that you’re brave to keep on doing what feels right for you and your family. Thank you for sharing these things and nice little moments.

  6. I love all the new things they have for baby’s now, they look so helpful. what do all the buttons do on the bassinet? I just saw Charlotte’s picture you put up..Jen she is so adorable , you must be one proud mummy!!

      1. Oh how cool, wish they had all those things back when I had my children…will have to wait for grandchildren (not yet though)lol
        Thanks for the reply 🙂
P.S I love the project life pages you made, lots of lovely memories there that you will cherish forever and your good at keeping on top of it all so early, my kids are almost grown and I still have boxes and boxes of photo’s to sort through !! oh well will get to it one day !! take care

  7. That sleep sheep is so cute that I almost want one for myself! You look wonderful, Jen. And Charlotte looks like an absolute angel. Enjoyed this video. =)

  8. I am curious as to your diet while you are breastfeeding. I’ve heard what to avoid, but I wanted to know your opinion. I am 21 weeks pregnant with boy/girl twins, and I plan to try to breastfeed them. Your tips are sooooo welcome!

  9. What a great update. Thanks for sharing all of the products you’ve been enjoying! I remember you mentioned (maybe in your Babymoon Essentials vid) that you were going to talk about all the books you read during your pregnancy. If you are still interested in writing that, I’d love to read it! There is an overwhelming amount of books out there. Would love to hear you share your perspective.

    1. Oh yeah! That and other things I had planned to post about during my pregnancy got lost in the crazy holiday shuffle I’m afraid. I may still do so. Thanks for the reminder!

  10. I may have missed this in an earlier post, but what diaper bag are you using.

I am 26 weeks and have picked out most things but I am stuck on a diaper bag.

      1. Great! I will be anxiously awaiting that post. I go back and forth. Do I just get a reg diaper bag for baby and I still carry a purse that I can throw a few things in for a quick trip to the store? Or do I get a diaper bag that looks like a purse (Lilyjade style) and use it daily.

  11. Great video Jen as always! I am full on the nesting phase with 7 weeks to go!! I have to start washing my baby girls clothes and I was wondering which one you use. I use Ecos lavender for my husband and I and saw that they have a baby one and was curious if that’s what you use.

  12. Great Post.. Am 30 weeks pregnant…
I would like to know what baby products (bath essentials and skin care) you are using for CC…

  13. Hi Jen, I have been a big fan of your blog since you started the grooming videos of Winnie (I have the same breed) and now I’m 34 weeks and all your videos have been pretty helpful not only to learn but to pick up the essentials items so I would like to know if you made the newborn essentials video as you mentioned (I couldn’t find it)?

    1. I never got around to it, sadly :/ Still on my list but we’ll see if it happens. Maybe if I’m blessed with another baby!
