Mommy Favorites | Eight Month Old

We spent the past month at our family home in Utah and had a ball!  My daughter, Charlotte, grew so much while we were there, both physically and developmentally.  It’s amazing how babies change in the blink of an eye!  Today I’m sharing a few of my Mama picks from 7 to 8 months, including a few favorite toys & books, the softest PJ’s, yummy treats, and a new stroller obsession.

All image sources that are not originally my own photos are from the links provided below.  Please be advised that some of the links provided are affiliate links and I do receive a small commission if you make a purchase using those links.  This does not cost you any extra when you make a purchase.  I very much appreciate your support of this blog in doing so!

mommy favorites 8 months 2016

❊ Baby Einstein Take Along Tunes Musical Toy – CC has used and loved this little musical toy for many months but has become even more enamored with it since she’s figured out the joy of pressing the button over and over again.  I love that it has two volume settings and is lightweight and small making it easy to travel with.  It plays well known classical music, which is a nice departure from the mind-numbing plunky tunes musical toys usually play.

❊ Baby Banana Teether – This is, by far, the best teething toy we’ve come across yet, and that includes Sophie!  I keep ours by her spot at the counter where she sits in her Inglesina Fats Table Chair while I prepare and then subsequently clean up from her meals.  She always reaches right for it and it keeps her well occupied.  The silicone brush is especially soothing on sore gums and is a great introduction to a toothbrush for later down the road.

❊ Jellycat If I Were Board Books – CC has gotten really into patting things in the past couple of months, especially after I point something out or touch it myself.  Books designed with interactive elements to touch & feel are very appealing to her at the moment.  We’ve been enjoying exploring her collection of “If I Were A…” animal board books together.  They have lots of interesting textures, including the animal tail at the top of the book (which is obviously the best part!).

❊ Leveret Footed Pajamas – I was completely unprepared when CC shot up a size in PJ’s seemingly overnight a few days after we arrived at the Utah house.  It’s not as easy to pop out to a store like Carter’s or Target as it is at home in Illinois, so I had to rely on what Amazon Prime could deliver in a couple of days.  Happily, thePJ’s I found are now favorites!  They come in a variety of patterns at a reasonable price.  I already have my eye on the holiday designs!

❊ Happy Baby Organic Teethers – We’re now at a point in CC’s solid food journey where she’s beginning to need a little afternoon snack to tide her over between her mid afternoon nursing session and dinner.  Oftentimes that’s when I take her out to run errands or for mini adventures together.  Teething wafers are an easy, portably snack that is a perfect on-the-go option.  I keep a packet in my purse at all times!

❊ Baby Jogger City Mini GT – We decided to purchase a more all-terrain friendly stroller to leave out at the Utah house, since we spend quite a bit of time there in the summer and around the holidays.  It’s also nice not to have to lug our huge Uppababy Vista through the airport when at all possible.  I love the City Mini GT.  It is such a smooth ride and the fold is a breeze.  I love our Uppababy’s big basket and convertibility options, but the City Mini is hard to beat in my opinion.

❊ Momtastic Wholesome Baby Food – You wouldn’t think it would be challenging to come up with meal ideas for a baby, but sometimes I admittedly feel stumped.  I came across this blog in my search for ideas a couple of months ago and have found myself referencing it many times since.  It includes a wealth of information all about feeing baby solids, including recipes, age appropriate food charts, allergens, and more.  If you’re looking for some guidance and inspiration on feeding your baby solids, I recommend taking a look at this blog as it has so much to offer!

I talk about each item in more detail in this video:

I hope you enjoyed this look at my top picks for my eight month old.  I would love to know what some of your Mommy favorites are if you care to share!

  1. Hey Jen!!
I’m just curious if You make any commission if I just click on Your links, or do I actually have to purchase the item as well?
I would just like to support You as much as I can because I just Love your Blogs and Videos (and totally miss Your Vlogs!).
That’s a great sale price on the pajamas, and I completely trust Your opinion, so I may purchase them anyways =)
As always, thank You kindly for sharing!
Much Love and Many, Many Blessings to You and Yours!

  2. Hi! Do you h have any favorites when it comes to flight with CC?
How do you pack for the airplane? Do you bring any special toys, food, clothes? I’ll be traveling to Germany soon and would love to hear some of your ideas or tips.

    Thank you!

    1. I bring a fully packed diaper bag with an extra outfit and some toys and books, but mostly at this young age she’s just wanted to interact with me and Don on the flight and also relishes the bonus nursing time. It’s good to be prepared, of course, but if your baby is young chances are he/she will be plenty entertained with lots of attention from you and a few comforting items from home.

  3. Hi Jen,
I would like to know if you have a recommendation for toy/sippy cup tethers? I have seen you using them in some videos and was wondering what you think? Thank you

  4. Hi Jen! I’m wondering what has happened with the Cici updates? It looks like you’ve missed the past 2 or 3 months…I’m really missing them 🙁 I would love to hear what’s going on with your sweet girl and how she has been growing physically, intellectually and emotionally these past few months. Hope you’re all doing alright. Looking forward to more consistent posting and snapping soon, it has been quite a while!

      1. Is CC still going to her swimming classes? Has she improved her swimming over the summer? My daughter is about to start mommy and me swimming and I would love to hear how it went for you.

        1. We did a session earlier in the summer, which was fun, but missed the deadline for fall registration because we were out in Utah. I hope to take her again next session. We have so much fun in the water together! I’d definitely recommend it. Babies this young don’t do a lot of actual swimming, but it’s a great way to get started in the water and a fun activity for mama & baby to enjoy together 🙂

  5. What happened to your vlogs? They were so entertaining and funny and awesome! I miss the old Jen, I miss the old vlogs. Why don’t you try a month of vlogging (vlogtober?) and see how it goes? You may find that you really enjoy vlogging with your new babe. And if not…no worries, but at least give it a try. Your viewers miss your old awesome content. The Mommy Favorites just isn’t doing it for us. Best wishes to you Jen!

      1. I totally agree Alexia! I so miss the old you, Jen. However, at the same time, I respect your choice. I just hope you will work up the confidence to start sharing with us again soon. I think I speak for all you fans when I say we miss your vlogs 🙂

  6. Jen, would you be comforting doing a Q&A type video soon? Viewers could send questions and then you could pick a few and give the answers through a video? I think viewers would like that as a compromise to you not vlogging Just an idea.

      1. Thank you for sharing this Jen, I totally missed this because I always go to your blog first, not your Youtube. This made my day! I would love to see a Q&A video maybe once a week? If possible, that would be great! I’m really upset I didn’t get to ask any questions this time. Please do one again soon, maybe this week so I can ask some questions? I would really appreciate that! I love your videos. Keep up the snapping, keep up the posting, keep up they sharing 🙂

        1. I’ll probably do another one in a couple of months. I usually ask for questions on my Facebook page when the time comes FYI 🙂

  7. Hi! Have you started to think about where your Charlotte will go to preschool? I know it is a bit earlier, but would love your thoughts on a Montessori education. You planning to send her to a Montessori? I’m sure Suzanne would be thrilled!
