Maternity Haul | 3rd Trimester

I recently filled out my fall and winter maternity wardrobe in preparation for dropping temperatures and holiday festivities.  I thought I’d share my picks with you.  I’m also including some items I had purchased pre-pregnancy and during my first and second trimesters that have been absolute staples for me with the shifting seasons.

I’m fortunate that my feet haven’t changed sizes and I’ve been able to wear the shoes I already own up to this pointy.  I’ve lived in some of my favorite boots so far this fall.  They’re easy to just pull on without having to tie laces or zip anything, which at this point might necessitate sitting down to do so thanks to my ever growing bump.  I have a feeling I’ll continue to wear these (as well as my snow boots if necessary) for the remainder of my pregnancy so long as my feet don’t change.

I purchased a couple of maternity bottoms in my first trimester that have served me well throughout the entire course of my pregnancy.  I think it’s hard to go wrong with a good pair of skinny jeans and leggings in your maternity wardrobe.  I splurged and bought pricey versions of both, which has been well worth it for me considering how much use I get out of them.  I’m wearing the leggings even more now as they’re the most comfortable bottoms, but the jeans are also still a go-to option.

I’ve enjoyed shopping Target for reasonably priced casual wear for years, and my pregnancy has been no exception.  I live in the Liz Lange for Target Maternity Fashion Tank Tops I picked up in my second trimester in basic colors for layering.  I recently shopped Target for some cozy tops and sweaters and found a few great pieces that I love.

The holiday season is upon us!  I turned to PinkBlush Maternity for tops in fall/winter colors, since most of what I have that isn’t basic wear is pretty summery.  I wanted a variety of tunic length tops that completely cover my belly and backside so I can comfortably wear them with leggings outside of the house.  It was also important to me to find tops in lighter fabrics and cuts with a wintry look, as I tend to heat up faster now.  As you can see, burgundy is my color of choice this holiday season!  I also purchased the three tops in gray as well.

I purchased a couple of pieces to wear for specific events, including a beautiful lace trim sweater that I picked up for our holiday/maternity photo shoot.  It’s beautiful but super delicate and prone to snagging, so keep that in mind before purchasing.  I also needed a maternity dress that I could wear to a couple of parties, dinners, and theater outings over the course of the holiday season.  I searched for a long time before finding this lace beauty from PinkBlush.  I love that it is knee-length and short-sleeved for comfort, as I can layer a cardigan on top and tights underneath if needed.   It’s super comfortable as well, which is an essential feature of any clothing item in my last month and a half of pregnancy.

Outerwear and layering options are important staples in my wardrobe considering I live in a seasonal climate.  I picked up the Wendy Bellisimo Anorak earlier in the fall season as a light jacket and have absolutely loved it!  Weather in the Chicagoland area can change unpredictably, so I knew it was important to have both a light jacket and a warmer coat to cover the end of fall and beginning of winter.  I ultimately decided not to get a down winter maternity coat, since I have been running on the warmer side lately and I figured I could always layer underneath a wool one.  Baby Girl will probably arrive around the time it starts to get extremely cold around here and I think I will be able to fit into my roomy pre-pregnancy down coat post partum.

I chat more about each item and how it works for me in this video:

I’m quite happy with the fall and winter pieces I picked out and I think I’m well covered for the remainder of my pregnancy.  I’d love to know your favorite maternity wear shops or brands if you care to share!

  1. I just got pants a size bigger with an elastic waist, I think from Lands End in 3 styles and they were fine. I needed bigger size tops around fall/winter so I just got boxy styles in blouses and sweaters and I wore the same size just much differently. I also never had to size up in bras or shoes so that was nice. I did get a maternity jacket and I can remove the middle panel to make it a regular long coat now which is good.
