Little Luxuries: Holiday Gift Guide 2013

I decided to switch up my holiday gift guide this year to encompass a bit more than just stocking stuffers, which is what I’ve done on OLJ for the past few years during my annual Holiday Prep Series.  I am posting a 3-part Holiday Gift Guide series instead this year, breaking down each video by price range and sharing some of my top picks for both guys and ladies, as well as gender neutral gifts.  This week I am sharing gifts that fall under the $20-$40 range (give or take a few dollars).  I’ve decided to call this selection Little Luxuries, because that seemed the most fitting.  These are gifts that I think many people would not necessarily splurge on for themselves but might enjoy being gifted.

  1. Great gift guide video!! I tried to use the Mae Movement code and it’s taking off 5% not $5 off. Is this an error on the their website? Thanks!!

  2. affiliate links don’t bother me as long as they’re disclosed. what puzzles me about this gift guide is how many of the items you had personalized for yourself – why not use this as an opportunity to buy gifts for your family? i know you go all out and buy them really nice things, but you ordered 3 phone cases for yourself, and the journal has your blog name on it.

this isn’t snark – just curious why you chose to do that around the holidays. i realize it’s none of my business.

    1. I like to use products myself before sharing them in a video to determine what I think of them & if I truly do love them, which is why those particular products were personalized for me. It’s because I have been using & loving them 🙂

  3. I just ordered the Origins gift set. Thanks for the suggestion! Sephora sent me a $15 Beauty Insider gift card so I decided to treat myself with some cold weather luxuries. My skin takes a beating this time of year, so I appreciate you sharing this great gift set! Oh, and for the record Jen, I think it’s perfectly acceptable that you make a profit off of all of your efforts. You invest a LOT of time and energy into your You Tube channel and blog and you are extremely generous with giveaways….more so than any You Tuber I know of. I’m glad you are being compensated :). Merry Christmas!

  4. Thank you for the coupon codes. I’m ordering a bracelet from lycheeKiss ( the one that was designed with you in thought of) for my MIL.

  5. Wow! this gift guide is packed full of great ideas….and all the links tied to the pictures… Woa what a feat! I really appreaciate all that you do sweetie… But remember to take time for yourself :D, you don’t want to crash and burn (Get sick)… You give more than any blogger I know. xoxox

  6. I took my best friend to Teavana to try out their teas. ( she’s a newbie to tea) and she loved it. Per your suggestion, I got her the holiday set along with the rock sugar. Thanks for all your hard work and research!

  7. Thanks very much for sharing your ideas! I especially love how you chose highlight small, independent businesses and designers. I was lucky to receive a bracelet from your LycheeKiss giveaway and love its uniqueness and the detail of the craft. Looking forward to exploring Mesa Dreams a bit too! Best wishes to your and yours during the holiday season 🙂

  8. THANK YOU JEN! I am new to your Channel and I just love how much work you put out for us. You are so generous with the coupon codes etc. I am sickened at the people who are so rude, what is happening to this world? Thank you for your reviews obviously you can not promote something you don’t like. You are making my holiday shopping for my Daughters and friends so easy. I look forward to each and every one of your videos. Thank you again!

    1. I emailed Haley (co-founder) and she said she fixed it. She also extended it to December 13. I will update the original blog post tomorrow with the new details. 🙂

  9. love love loved this vlog and of course coordinating blog post! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this blog and list each item, so super helpful!!! The coupon codes are great too! Thanks as always Jen!! 🙂

  10. Hi Jen!

How long did it take to get your mae movement bracelets? I placed an order on the 7th and haven’t heard from anyone at their site, no confirmation, no responses to my customer service inquiries… nothing! But they definitely charged me…

just thought I would give you a heads up that they may not be fulfilling orders!

    1. Ashley,

I emailed Haley at Mae Movement and she wrote back right away with this:

“We received such a rush with the holidays it is taking a little longer than expected to process the order and go through the emails. I feel terrible, I will be finishing them up today. We are currently looking into changing our processing system because it does not send out a confirmation. I apologize in advance if you receive anymore inquiries about orders. You can assure her that we will be shipping tomorrow morning. We have also had a few snow storms pushing back shipments this week.”

They are a very small business and it can be overwhelming to receive a lot of orders when you’re short staffed. Hopefully you’ll receive your order soon!

  11. Loved this vid. Too funny as Zazzle is where I bought my iPhone 5 case as well. They have so many unique covers for most phones. You could spend DAYS looking at them all. I got the La Chanteuse IV case by skellorg and love it. I get a lot of compliments on it. After having it for 3 months is still looks good, no wearing despite it being jostled around in my purse all the time.
