Happy New Year! I’m so excited to be back to sharing one of my favorite kinds of posts: my monthly favorites! I skipped last month because our daughter, Charlotte, decided to make an early appearance. It feels good to be back to sharing once again! I’m excited to share some of my favorite things from the past month with you, ranging from clothing, accessories, and beauty items to home goods, multi-media picks, and food.

Clothes & Accessories:
❊ J. Crew Plaid Flannel Pajama Pants – My all time favorites, these pj’s are light yet cozy and are actually long enough (I’m always surprised by how most PJ bottoms come up short on me). They’ve been absolutely essential for the past month as I’ve recovered (from a c-section) at home.
❊ Dreamers By Debut Shawl Collar Cardigan – I’ve lived in this super comfy cozy sweater lately. I love that it’s long enough to cover my postpartum caboose. Plus it has pockets! #Winning 😉
Beauty:
❊ Aveeno Baby Daily Moisture Lotion – I’m really liking Aveeno products lately for providing great hydration without strong fragrance. I didn’t want to use any lotions that might bother my newborn so I decided to play it safe by using this formula especially made for babies on myself. I find it’s very similar to the regular daily moisturizing lotion, which I am currently using.
❊ Aveeno Skin Relief Hand Cream – My hands have been extra dry lately since I wash them so much more now with a baby in the house. Skin Relief to the rescue! I apply this many times a day after washing to keep my hands moisturized and soft.
❊ Spectrum Organic Unrefined Coconut Oil – Coconut oil: what can’t it do? I’ve been using it to keep my extra dry cuticles in check with great success. I like applying it to my feet after my morning shower and then popping my socks on. My apologies if this is TMI, but it’s also a great alternative to nipple cream for breastfeeding related soreness.
❊ Smith’s Rosebud Salve in a Tube – The BEST lip balm on the planet, in my opinion! I keep a tube of this in the bathroom, one on my nightstand, and another in my purse so I’m never without it.
Home Goods:
These are actually my picks from December which I did not post about at the time so I thought I’d share them this month instead.
❊ Nest Fragrances Holiday Reed Diffuser – This reed diffuser blows all others I’ve tried out of the water. We’ve had it in our powder room for over two months now and it still works! It’s also absolutely stunning with gold foil detail. I love the holiday scent, which is a blend of pomegranate, mandarin orange, pine, cloves and cinnamon with a hint of vanilla and amber.
❊ Nest Fragrances Holiday Candle – I loved the scent of the diffuser so much, I decided to splurge on the candle. We burned this in our family room while we watched holiday movies most every night in December. The throw is incredible! I will definitely repurchase this next winter.
Multi-Media:
❊ New Girl – We’re back to watching tv shows after a movie marathon December. I’m loving New Girl this month for easy breezy entertainment that’s not too hard to keep up with (as I’m quite distracted for obvious reasons 😉 ) and is laugh-out-loud funny.
❊ Never Broken: Songs Are Only Half the Story by Jewel – I haven’t had a lot of time to read lately, but I am enjoying Jewel’s autobiography when I have a moment to pick up the book. I’ve been a fan of her music for well over a decade and had no idea how intense and unique her background is. Her life is fascinating! I really enjoy her writing style, which is detailed and very personal. She’s a great story teller.
❊ Disney Songs – I mainly listen to music in the car and I haven’t really been driving lately. I have, however, been singing a lot to my baby and teaching myself the lyrics to classic Disney songs from Cinderella, Pinocchio, Little Mermaid, and more. I just love sharing these sweet songs with my girl!
❊ Ali Edwards – I stumbled across this website earlier in the month when I was looking for guidance on Project Life style scrapbooking. I’ve since signed up for two of Ali’s classes and am really enjoying her teaching style. I highly recommend checking out her blog if you’re into scrapbooking.
Tasty Treats:
❊ Halos – I’ve raved about these delicious mandarins time and time again. They’re one of my absolute favorite winter treats (which is when they’re in season). I ate at least two most every day last month! It’s nice to get a little extra vitamin C during the darkest and dreariest time of year.
❊ Rice Krispie Treats – I didn’t know postpartum cravings were a thing but apparently they are for me. I’ve been all about Rice Krispie treats lately. My DH, Don, sweetly made my favorite for me: a combination of regular and cocoa krispies. We like to add about 20% more marshmallows to the batter than the original recipe calls for because it makes them extra gooey. Just talking about Rice Krispie treats makes my mouth water!
