First Impressions: Sigma Beauty Born To Be Collection

One of the first signs that spring is coming (perhaps slowly, but surely!) is the arrival of new cosmetic collections in bright hues popping up in stores and online.  Although new makeup is always exciting for a beauty lover like me, I often find myself a bit frustrated by the bright and light new shades that do not match the transitional winter to spring weather.  When I purchase new spring products in February or March I often have to put them aside until later in April and May when the weather finally turns truly spring-like in the Chicago area.  Sigma’a newest launch, the Born To Be Collection, is the perfect transitional collection in my opinion, because it combines neutrals with fun pops of color that are still appropriate for the season right now, but give a taste of the lighter mood of spring at the same time.

OJ_TBBB_02-10-2014_01Sigma designed the Born To Be Collection “to bring sophistication to the sultry, smokey eye with unexpected color combinations of modern chic and urban edge perfect for the transition from day-t0-night.”  The collection includes one eye shadow palette, three eyeliners, one powder blush, three lip glosses, and one lip concealer.
Blog_1Smoke Screen Eye Shadow Palette ($39) – Features twelve different shades and finishes with cool undertones.  Each shade is represented by sophisticated neutrals to bold brights offset by dark, dusty hues.
Blog_3Kohl Eye Liner Pencils in IndigoBird, My Cloud, and Atomic Number 6 ($9 each) – Each eyeliner has a rich, creamy, and pigmented effect.  Pair with your favorite eye shadows to create a customized collection.
Blog_2Born To… Blush ($12) – The rose-wine colored blush has rich pigmentation with blendable wear.
Blog_4Lip Gloss in Eleven, Get Ready, and Sheila ($10 each) – All three lip glosses container shimmer with an opaque, smooth, and creamy finish.
Blog_5Lose the Halo Lip Concealer ($15) – The ALL-NEW Sigma Beauty Lip Concealer features a creamy, blend-able finish.  Designed to ensure the lip color of choice is true to application, this product erases natural lip color for any skin tone.  Can also be worn alone or to perfect the edge on lips for a smoother appearance.

  1. I saw a cute knitting stitch marker on Amazon today. Owl family stitch markers in a safety pin type pin to keep them together. Bronzey finish. I tried to paste a picture here but was unable. I’m so proud of you for going back to knitting. I’ve been knitting, crocheting, and sewing all my life since the age of 11. Last April I “found” you and entered the Urban Decay giveaway and I won! But I couldn’t get my e-mail to work, it will receive but it wont send and thus missed out on the prize. But it sure tickled me to win anyway. I’m disabled and can’t exercise anymore and when you do the reviews of your excercise and running, it especially makes my day. We don’t appreciate what we have until its gone. It takes me 2 weeks to clean my house, but then I start the cycle over and go at it again. Work…rest, rest, rest, etc. this is my exercise. You are living the good life and you’re living it well with your family. Be like me and don’t take anything for granted. Appreciate everything life brings. It’s for a reason. Love, Jo Marie

  2. Hi Jen, I received an email from Sigma about the collection (first I’d seen of it) & fell in love with the Smoke Screen palette! I went to youtube for your coupon code & was so happy to see your video, seeing the S.S. palette up close only confirmed my love & I bought both it & the Warm Neutrals palette. When the W.N. palette was released during the holidays I already had my sights set on three other neutral palettes so I couldn’t justify another (at the time) but your rave reviews made me think twice when placing my order, TFS & ((big hugs))
