I’ve been enjoying perusing and shopping on Etsy lately, which is an online marketplace for small business owners to sell handcrafted goods. It’s truly amazing to see the beautiful things people make! After successfully finding the exact camera strap I wanted for my vlogging camera a couple of months ago (see that post here), I started searching Etsy for bee-themed jewelry. I’ve wanted a bee necklace for awhile now, but all of the ones I have found through jewelry designer websites are either too expensive or not quite right. I was hoping I’d have more luck on Etsy and after a quick search I stumbled upon Bijoux by Meg, a handcrafted jewelry shop run by Megan who creates each piece listed on her site by hand.
Megan had the perfect bee necklace in her shop! It’s small and dainty, which is how I prefer the majority of my necklaces. I couldn’t pass up this lovely piece! Priced at just $30 it was almost too good to be true. I also loved that it could be personalized. I absolutely love monogrammed jewelry! I placed my order after deciding on a a script letter “J” for the hammered disk that hangs next to the delicate gold-toned bee. I practically squealed with delight (ok, there’s no “practically” about it, I literally squealed), when my new necklace arrived a few days later. I just love how Megan packages her jewelry! How perfect are these little gift-boxed beauties for sweet gifts? I have something in mind for the holidays already… 😉
After wearing and absolutely loving my little bee for a some time I got to thinking how nice it would be to have a dainty gold charm bracelet made with the same gold disc that hangs from the bee necklace. I contacted Megan to see if this was something she’d be willing to make custom for me. She replied back almost immediately that she would be happy to make the charm bracelet. We messaged through Etsy while finalizing the details of the bracelet. I found that Megan is a sweet and attentive small business owner who makes sure to communicate with her customers in a very warm and timely manner. She’s a dream to work with! When it came time to finalize the order, I asked her to send me an invoice for the bracelet and she surprised me by insisting on sending it as a gift. One of my YouTube viewers had informed her of how I featured the bee necklace in my June Favorites video and she wanted to send the bracelet as a thank you. What a sweetheart!
The custom charm bracelet arrived in my mailbox a few days later. This one got an even bigger squeal than the bee necklace! I’ve been in the market for a dainty gold bracelet forever and just like with the bee necklace, I never found one that was exactly right. My new bracelet is absolutely perfect for me! I love how willing Megan was to work with me to make my vision a reality.
I’ve enjoyed wearing both pieces together and separately on many occasions over the past few weeks. They are beautiful additions to my jewelry collection and I will treasure both for years to come. I popped in one of my #OOTD photos from the 4th of July weekend where you can see me wearing both the necklace and the bracelet together. They’re a match made in heaven!
