I’m sure I’m committing some sort of blogging no-no by posting twice in on day, but let’s be honest, this entire blog is a blogging no-no 😂 I’m just going to go with it and continue posting what I want when I want so another year and a half doesn’t slip by with it laying dormant again because I am stalled by wanting it to be perfect.
I am quite proud of myself for getting all caught up to current in my December Daily album. I completed three spreads in the span of two hours this evening. If that isn’t a triumphant memory keeping success, I don’t know what is! I am being silly here, but in all honesty I love to be current because I feel like it gives me a little buffer in case I need an evening off of the project down the road, like I took last night.
I feel like the Day 6 and 7 spreads were easy to conceptualize, because we had two seriously fun family things happen. On Friday night, my in-laws (known to our kids as Mimi & Papa) invited all four cousins over for a special holiday-themed sleepover. CC was so excited about this all week. She and Donny have never slept over anywhere without Mommy or Daddy before, so that was a big deal in and of itself. Sleeping over with their cousins, Grace and Theo, was the icing on the cake!
The kids had a blast! They played games, baked muffins, did crafts, and stayed up late. My in-laws are rock stars for pulling this off with such grace! The next morning the parents were invited over for a brunch that the kids all helped to prepare. It was a wonderful way to spend a few hours all together.
I decided to include full size photos (measured to the size of the page protector, not sized to fit inside one – another great Ali Edwards tip!) as anchors of the two spreads and used a 3″x8″ template from the December Daily 2019 combo pack to hold the rest of the photos and some of the story. While I love the concept of this connected two spread design, I feel like it turned out cluttered looking.
In fact, if I’m being honest, I feel like my album has a busy look and feel to it so far. While it’s not quite the aesthetic the recovering perfectionist in me would hope for, I am choosing to embrace what I make in this album as is. My mind is particularly scattered this holiday season, so perhaps it makes sense that my memory keeping reflects that. Regardless, I am happy with my progress and I honor whatever unfolds with my project.
I went ahead and opened up Day 2 of the Ali Edwards advent calendar, which included these awesome glitter acrylic stars. I love that they came with the adhesive already on and ready to go. I used these throughout my Day 6 and 7 spreads to add a bit of dimension and sparkle.
That’s a wrap on Day 6 of Blogmas! I hope you are enjoying this look at my project and seeing what my family is getting up to this holiday season. I have a feeling this holiday sleepover might just become a new tradition. I’d love to know if you have started any new traditions this year. Thank you for sharing your experiences with me, friends. I truly love hearing from you. Take good care ❤️
