Beauty Haul (Summer 2014)

I’ve been doing a bit of shopping here and there over the past few weeks at some of my favorite beauty shops for summer and travel items and thought I would share my finds with you!

Ulta – A great one-stop shop with a mix between high-end and drugstore beauty options.  I had a 20% off my total purchase coupon I used on this lot.

✻ Too Faced A La Mode Eyes Palette – A beautiful summer palette I bought with travel in mind.  Love the lightweight tin packaging and choice of beachy colors!

✻ Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Pressed Finishing Powder – I’m already a big fan of the loose powder version of this product, which I bought last summer and really helps me with my oily t-zone. Love this pressed finishing powder to keep in my purse for on the go touchups!

✻ Tree Hut Shea Sugar Body Scrub – These were viewer/reader recommendations and thank you for that because I love these scrubs!  I’ve been using Pomegranate Acai in my shower for the past few weeks and picked up Hawaiian Kukui for when I run out.  They are soft, yet effective, and leave my skin feeling oh-so smooth.

✻ Pacifica Malibu Lemmon Blossom Hand Cream – I have a thing for hand lotion and couldn’t resist picking up this delicious smelling lemon blossom version from one of my favorite bath & body care lines, Pacifica.

✻ It Cosmetics Tightline Waterproof – I decided to give this unique product a try after hearing one of my favorite YouTube beauty gurus, MakeupByTiffanyD, rave about it. I’ve never gotten into the traditional method of tight-lining with an eye pencil before, but I thought this mascara wand version might be worth a shot.

OJ_TBBB_06-19-2014_02I also received several free gifts with my purchase, including:

It Cosmetics Universal Eyebrow Pencil

Mally Beauty Volumizing Mascara

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Anti-Aging Concealer

Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer

Sephora – My absolute favorite mid to high end beauty store!  I tried to limit myself this season since I hauled so much from the VIB sale in the spring.

Hourglass Ambient Blush – I’ve been lusting after these for awhile especially after seeing countless rave reviews. I had hoped to pick some up in the sale, but the two shades I wanted most, Luminous Flush and Dim Infusion, were sold out.  I decided it was worth it to pay full price for them once the sale ended and they were back in stock and I was right, because I am currently obsessed!  They both give such a nice natural flush.

OJ_TBBB_07-19-2014_04As a VIB Rouge member (which basically just means I spend an obscene amount at this store), I receive special codes for free bonus gifts by email from time to time.  I did not have to use my beauty points to add this Buxom Haute Pink Lips set to my order.  I love Buxom lip products so I jumped at the chance!  The gift came with three new shades, including a Full-Bodied Lipstick in Mistress, a Full-Bodied Lipgloss in Sweet Thing, and a Full-On Lip Polish in Nicole.  These are all bright pink shades, perfect for a pop of color this summer!

Target – My love for Target knows no bounds!  It is one of my favorite places to shop for household goods, food, stationary, entertainment, and beauty items.

✻ Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Body Mist Sunscreen SPF 30 – I’ve used this sunscreen for years.  It is easy to apply and effective!  Right now, Target is selling it in two-pack bundles with a free makeup remover pack included, which I use for travel.

✻ Yes To Grapefruit Brightening Facial Towelettes – I’ve tried these before and didn’t care for them for removing makeup, but thought they’d be perfect for a quick face swipe before I head off on my morning runs, since I don’t like to do my whole skincare routine until after I’m clean.

✻ Yes To Grapefruit Daily Facial Scrub – Another recommendation from MakeupByTiffanyD, I plan on replacing my St. Ives Apricot Scrub that’s just about to run out with this.  I like the St. Ives one, but I wanted to try something new.

Softlips Cube – I’ve used and loved  Softlips products since I was in high school and couldn’t resist trying out their new EOS-like lip balm.  I like how minty it is!

Bath & Body Works – While this last haul is not technically beauty-related, I decided to pop it in here all the same.  BBW is my favorite place for candles!  I love how I always have great coupons for this store.  For this purchase I used a 20% off everything coupon in addition to the candle 2-for-1 sale.

✻ 3-Wick Candles – I love the new summer scents in the sea glass jars. These all smell light, bright, and airy – perfect for summer!  I picked up Sunset Beach, Coastal Sun, and Beach Day.

Travel Size Body Lotion – Endless Weekend is described as “an exhilarating blend of raspberry lychee sorbet, sun-kissed magnolia and vanilla sandalwood.”  I used another coupon to get this for free!

I share a closer look as well as my thoughts about each product in the coordinating video below:

  1. I always love watching your hauls, I cannot afford to shop right now, so I get my fix with you 🙂

Thanks for the chance at the giveaway as well. Very generous of you.

  2. Hi Jen:

The Mally Beauty Volumizing Mascara works beautifully, except that I have “oily” eyelids, and by, let say 4 hours it’s underneath my eyes. It’s a great mascara for short events, if that make sense :).

I am really loving the Tarte – lights, camera, lashes 4 in 1 mascara. It volumizing and my lashes look great. I can go about 8 eights with this one. I get very little smudge underneath.

Thank you for sharing your AWESOME haul!

    Marta 🙂

  3. I just started using the Yes To scrub and have really enjoyed it. However, I also just read an article about all the little plastic balls in the world causing havoc. I think the state you live in is banning them soon. Anyway, I do not have an answer as to what to use instead because I find the peach pit scrubs too harsh. Hopefully someone somewhere will develop a biodegradable micro ball that will not clog up the world. Again, I do not claim to have a solution, and yet love to exfoliate.

I also have an order in to Sephora for the Ambiant Lighting Pallette and Blush. Time to pull the trigger on those two and very excited to get them soon.

Lastly, I am so excited that we booked our Disney World Cruise and Park tour for Feb. 2015!! I want to tell everyone, but don’t want it to get back to my daughter. We are keeping it a secret until December, and oh it is going to be so hard. I do plan on telling her early enough so she can watch all your fun videos about the park. They have taught me so much and I am feeling more prepared. She will be nine at the time of the trip and I think will just be over the moon. Even her old parents (we had her later I life) are so excited as well! Silly me I am looking forward to your next trip so I can get some more tips before we jet out there.

Thank you for all your insight on life and beauty. I truly enjoy all your channels, and find your fun loving chatty humor info just an enjoyable escape and encouragement for some days. I too am tackling our master closet, so curious to see your completed room.

Ok awkwardly long comment, so I will sign off. Enjoy your summer and again thank you for bravely sharing your life.

    Peace,
    Laur

    1. Hmm, I didn’t know about the scrub issue. Thanks for filling me in.

Sounds like you have a lovely trip planned! I’m sure your family will have a ball 🙂

  4. Jen I know you spend a lot of time outdoors in the summer any tips on a foundation or face powder that doesn’t melt off so easily.

    1. I really like the Tarte Smooth Operator powder for keeping my face feeling dry. I also prefer lighter, more lotion-like face products like BB or CC creams as opposed to foundation in summer.

  5. love all your videos. my favorite videos to watch on youtube! 😀 I know there’s a disclaimer with rafflecopter to try again later if it doesn’t work but it never ever works for me to enter your giveaways anymore. I try multiple times but it never loads with entries and such to enter. it’s a bummer 🙁 good luck to those who got to enter.

  6. I was just wondering if you could share how you get your coupons for the candles. I am coming out from Australia in a few months (for disneyworld, woohoo) and I would love to purchase some of these 🙂 I have plenty of luggage space as there is 5 in my family.

    1. I get most coupons via email. It’s easy to sign up on BBW’s website. Then you just print them out and bring them with you when the time for your trip comes.

  7. Hi Jen!! Just a fan who wanted to say hello and tell you how much I enjoy your blogs, vlogs and organizing advice. Silly but I feel like we are friends just having some tea and cut chatting. That’s for opening up your life to us! I appreciate all your extra efforts! Warmest, Darla in Columbus, Ohio 😉

  8. So excited you finally got your hands on those Hourglass blush shades! I’d love to hear your thoughts on how the different colors compare, and if you think they work especially well with the coordinating ambient lighting powders.
    Hope y’all had a great weekend! 🙂
