Hello, beauties! It’s that magical time of year when Sephora offers a generous 20% off on their entire inventory to VIB members. I keep a running list on my phone all year long in anticipation of this rare event! I placed a huge order over the weekend, which I’ve separated into three categories: restocks on tried and true favorites, replacement products that I’ve recently run out of, and fun splurges. Read on to see what goodies I got this time around.
All image sources that are not originally my own photos are from the links provided below. This does not cost you any extra when you make a purchase. I very much appreciate your support of this blog in doing so!
The annual Sephora VIB sale, which is typically held in November, is split into two parts this year. The sale was open to VIB Rouge members last weekend. VIB’s get their opportunity this upcoming weekend. To reach VIB status, you must spend a minimum of $350 in a calendar year. You are promoted to VIB Rouge status after spending $1000 at Sephora in a calendar year. You can sign up for the Beauty Insider program, which is free, online or in store.
* VIB members can save 20% off their total purchase using code VIB20 / Valid November 13 – 16, 2015 *
I like to take advantage of the sale to restock on some of my tried and true favorites.
❊ Shiseido Facial Cotton – Although I’ve made a point of not keeping tons of back-up products in my home anymore, I make an exception for these facial cottons and buy enough during the sale to last me the entire year. I’ve used and loved these daily for years and they’re definitely on the pricey side for face cotton, so I don’t mind storing a year’s supply. It’s also nice to not have to worry about running out until next year’s sale!
❊ Lancome Bi-Facil Double-Action Makeup Remover – I find that 2-3 bottles of this amazing eye makeup remover is enough to last me the year, and I always grab a couple during the sale. Nothing works better to remove waterproof eye makeup in my experience. There’s no tugging or pulling at my eyes to get this to work!
❊ Clarisonic Luxe Facial Brush Head – This brush head is another pricey staple in my skincare routine that I like to purchase when I can save 20%, as I reliably go through four of these each year.
❊ Nars Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base – One tube of this effective base lasts me an entire year, and it’s always the perfect time to restock when I can save! This is my go-to defense against oily eyelids that locks my shadow in place all day.
❊ Boscia Pink Peppermint Blotting Linens – I look forward to these holiday-themed limited edition blotting papers every year. I find them effective and festive. Win win!
The VIB sale is also a great time to replace products I’ve either recently run out of or have little left.
❊ bareMinerals 5 in 1 BB Advanced Performance Cream Eyeshadow – I just ran out of this beauty staple the other day. I use this cream eyeshadow as a base to help even out my pigmented eyelids. I like the Blushing Pink shade to add a touch of brightness.
❊ bareMinerals bareSkin Perfecting Veil – This face powder won my heart this year and I have the tiniest bit remaining, so it made sense to purchase another. It sets my makeup without leaving a noticeably powdery finish.
❊ Nars Brow Gel – I continue on my quest to find the perfect brow gel by purchasing one I haven’t tried before whenever I run out of what I’m currently using. I thought I’d give the Nars gel a go this time around.
❊ Kat Von D Tattoo Liner – I’ve discovered that I’m a liquid eyeliner girl this year. As much as I love my tried and true favorite, the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner, I wanted to give Kat Von D’s version a try now that it is available in my preferred shade of dark brown.
❊ Urban Decay Brow Beater Microfine Brow Pencil – Just as with brow gel, I’m still on the hunt for my favorite brow pencil. I’ve been using the Hourglass Arch Brow this year with good results, but I wanted to try Urban Decay’s pencil, which gets pretty awesome reviews.
❊ Philosophy Vanilla Bean Nutmeg Shower Gel – My efforts at going through my bath and body products before purchasing new ones this year has worked well and I don’t have a ton on hand at any given time anymore. I’m just about to run out of shower gel and wanted something festive for the holidays, so I thought I’d try this sweet smelling concoction from Philosophy. It smells like Christmas baking! I can’t wait to use it.
What’s a good sale without some fun splurges? These products have been on my “want to try” list for some time and 20% off sounds like the perfect time to give them a go. I made a commitment to myself earlier this year to keep my makeup stash under control and decided to sweep through and purge some products before I allowed myself to place my order. This method of swapping old for new keeps my stash reasonable and current but also allows me to try new things. This system is working perfectly for me so far.
❊ Too Faced Love Flush Long-Lasting Blush – I think these blushes from Too Faced look comparable to my favorite Amazonian Clay blushes from Tarte and I’ve been itching to try them. I picked out the shade Baby Love, which is described as a “soft dusty nude with fine gold sparkle.”
❊ Marc Jacobs Beauty Shameless Bold Blush – This gorgeous blush has been on my want list for ages and I’m so excited to try it out. I bought Reckless, a “cool rosy pink,” which I’m hoping is the kind of dusty rose color I tend to favor in the winter.
❊ Becca x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed – I’ve heard about this highlighter for months from my favorite YouTube beauty gurus and on beauty blogs and I finally took the plunge and bought it for myself. It’s a dazzling golden shimmer that really packs a punch!
❊ Marc Jacobs Beauty Enamored Hi-Shine Gloss Lip Lacquer Lipgloss – I’m so proud that I only bought one lippie during the sale. That’s a big change for me! I realized recently that I don’t wear enough lip products to justify such a massive collection, so I whittled down my stash even further and made a commitment not to go crazy buying more unless I purge more. I allowed myself to pick up this gloss which has been on my wish list. I’ve used it a couple of times already and I can already say that I really like it, especially the minty scent and effect. I picked out the shade Love Buzz, a “rose gold shimmer.”
❊ Laura Mercier Eye Art Artist’s Palette – I have quite an extensive palette collection already, but I did manage to purge several smaller ones to make room for this purple-themed beauty. I love wearing these tones in the winter and don’t have anything quite like it, so I let myself splurge.
❊ Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit – I somehow forgot to mention this one in my coordinating video (see below). I know what you’re thinking…more face products? I actually picked this up because it contains some of my all time favorites in one small compact that I think would be perfect for travel.
❊ Sephora Collection Face & Eye Mask Discovery Set – The VIB sale is a great time to stock up on skincare, but I didn’t really need anything since I recently purchased my favorites from Juice Beauty using a 20% off coupon at Ulta. I did, however, want this sheet face and eye mask set as a special treat to tuck away for after the holidays when I need a quick pick-me-up after Baby Girl is born. I figured a sheet mask might make for an easy 10-minute treat at the end of a long day.
I share a close up look at each product and more about my thoughts in this video:
I hope you enjoyed this look at the goodies I picked up during the Sephora VIB sale this year.
I’d love to know what’s on your beauty wish list if you care to share!
Happy Shopping 🙂
